No way, Rteacher! I was born there and stayed until the middle of elementary school, before moving east to Boston. That was my family's decision, of course, as due to my age I was not in a position to dictate family policy.
Nonetheless, I am glad they did. Springfield, while possessing a surprisingly rich history, has degenerated into the armpit of Massachusetts. Gangsters, derelicts, punks, and cracksluts abound.
However, the surrounding area of western Mass. is really beautiful country. Northampton is cool. Great restaurants there.
