Post links or other online references (if it's on the net, its fair game) to people whom you have discovered.

I could put up a few gems...

How about you put your money where your mouth is:

You post your real name, address, phone number, and place of employment first. Include enough info about your family back home so we can look them up in the white pages.

After a few months, come back and let us know how you're fairing. If you still think it's a wonderful idea, I'm sure we'll all follow suit.

Laughing

Got some experience, do you? Life on the world wide web, huh?

Anyhow, what you describe is called "out yourself".

Put your own info up.

Heck, post it along with that of your internet "enemies". Or just put up theirs and wait for them to dig up some info on you.

If you're tough enough to make the threat of exposing people's personal lives to the internet, then you're tough enough to not be afraid of letting people know who you are.

Interesting logic. Is that how it works? Post everything about yourself to prove something about being tough? Sounds like tough = stupid.

I thought it was about people leaving a trail of breadcrumbs behind them, yet acting like they are unknown. The internet is many things, but anonymous isn't one of them. Heck, do a WHOIS on any domain. These things are all on the net....homepages, webpages...it's all public domain stuff. They have already put their lives out there...just not here. There and here are the same....it's the net.

I had no intention of outing anyone., but I have to say, it's really easy to find people who host their own avatars or even forget how Word works. Laughing

Stop being "tough" then.

You got a beef with someone, post up their information like you've been threatening to. But if you're going to do that, post your own too. Or at least don't complain when they post up yours later on.

And since you're going to continue to make these veiled threats against the other users here you've taken a dislike to: Put up or shut up.

Guard your identity. Your employer looks here too. Maybe not often, but sometimes.
Promise.

Works both ways.

Had a guy come up to me in an Itaewon bar several months ago, say, "Hey, you're The Bobster, right? I remember seeing your picture on Dave's Once."

First words out of my mouth are, "Aw, Christ, you're some guy I argued politics with 3 years ago, and you never forgot how stupid I made you look." And I'm glancing around for my wingman, hoping he's not chatting up a girl or too busy staring into space at Olde Towne at the bottom of The Hill at 2 AM on a Saturday night, getting happy so with his beer buzz he doesn't notice his pal might need him at his back in the next 30 seconds.

The guy's half my age and I don't know him from Adam. But he knows me, somehow. Well, from here, obviously.

"Haha, no, I'm a fan, really. Always like reading what you put out there. Can I buy you a beer?"

Smiling, I say,"S'okay, fella, already got one."

Just goes to show ... you never know.
