Is she just setting herself up for further embarrassment?
Let us suppose, for the moment, she runs and wins. Who is in line to replace Pelosi as Speaker and what are his or her views on W. Bush and the Iraqi War?

(CNN) Despite swearing off public life earlier this year, peace activist Cindy Sheehan would run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as an independent in 2008 unless the speaker moves to impeach President Bush, a Sheehan spokeswoman said Sunday.

It's not about winning or losing...it's about getting in front of a camera, which in her heyday she was so busy doing she didn't have time (for months on end) to get a headstone for her son's grave...but found time to pose in front of a FAKE one.
As the above facts clearly show she's a publicity hound dog, but even someone as shallow and silly as she is must realize that she has no chance of winning, it's all about "Look at ME."
After she loses she will promise again to go away...until the next time she sees a chance to put her face on camera, and then the next time after that and then the next time, and then the next.....

Why is this such a big deal? We never got a headstone for my grandfather, nor my father. I can walk from my house to my father's grave and sit on the grass above where he is buried. We know exactly where he is, and don't need a stone. Nor do I ever visit there much. It's just his body in the ground. My wonderful memories of him exist here in my mind. |

It's a big deal because (a) she complained about having to pay for her son's headstone "expensive" (despite receiving 350,000 dollars) and (b) she posed for pictures in front of (what now seem to be fake grave markers.) (c) After questions began to crop up about this, she rushed to have a headstone put up.
In other words she made it a big deal by using it as a prop for photo ops. |

She`s not just a publicity hound for her own personal amusement, it`s the cause she believes in that she is promoting, not herself. I don`t like her methods or the things she says, but you`re off base saying it`s just about getting her face on camera for her own gratification. |

So putting up false grave markers for her own son for a photo opportunity promotes her cause?
Stating publicly that you are retiring from public life and then coming back only a month later...promotes her cause? Sounds more like she missed the spotlight then from any need to rest.
Meeting with Third World dictators promotes her cause?
Calling Bush a caring president after he met with her and then later going back on what she said promotes her cause?
I could go on and on..but it's very clear she enjoys the limelight. The shocking neglect of her son's grave (especially after her claiming his death to be the prime cause of her activism) proves that beyond a doubt. |

I agree it may have started that she was in it for her "cause" but about one month in she was in it totally for herself. I think its totally accurate to say she's doing it all now for her own gratification. |

She doesn't want to win. Any fool can see that. She's saying, "Those of us against the war gave you Dems a majorority so you would end this effing thing. That was the deal. You broke the deal. SOMEbody need to stand up and point to it and say it loud."
The majority of the American people want our sons and daughters out of Iraq. Nothing complicated about about that. Congress has the power. Do it. Cut the purse strings. Impeach. Whatever it takes.
End this thing. End it NOW.

It's a money threat. Pelosi and Cindy know that if Sheehan runs it will cost Pelosi a lot of her PAC money to run against her.
It's blackmail, but it isn't unwarranted. |
