| My girlfriend and I are flying to Europe this summer with JAL. It's my first time flying with them, and I was wondering if anyone had any good/bad experiences with them in the past. My girlfriend told me that she heard they have a huge problem with losing luggage. Is that true? |

I only used them once but they were great. They have a good rep.
You know, 99% of baggage arrives with the passaenger across all airlines as an average. I don't think JAL could be bad enough to upset that. |

my first and best international flight experience was with JAL. f'in brilliant service.
i got airsick and passed out - dislocating my ankle in the process - and the flight attendants were super-professional, helpful and checked on me every hour of the flight. after which i was escorted out in a wheelchair, taken out on one of those cargo lifts, and whisked through customs.
as well, the food was amazing. if they still serve "sky time" (kiwi fruit drink) be sure to have a few vodka sky-times. you won't be able to get one anywhere else. |

Excellent airline. I flew with them to Milan in April.
The service was outstanding and they had a great snack bar so you could help yourself to crackers and drinks during the night.
I'll definitely fly with them again. |

| Of course, another huge pro for JAL is that they are often the cheapest flight to many places. Both times I flew them was because they were the cheapest. |

I've flown JAL several times since my first Asia trip in late 2000; they're one of my favorite carriers and have provided consistently excellent service. Great fares too.
BTW, you can buy that Sky Time drink in supermarkets in Hong Kong and (I think) Japan too. |

I recently flew with JAL for the first time.
They told me they could provide no option to send one of my suitcases as 'unaccompanied luggage' and charged me an outrageous amount for excess baggage - 5500 yen ($US 60) per kilo.
The seats were cramped, the inflight entertainment system wasn't working, the cabin temperature was hot and there were no ceiling fans. (Maybe the Japanese believe in 'fan death' as well?) And when I ordered the chicken from the menu I was told they'd run out of chicken.
I won't be using them again.

| More than twenty trips--all good. They've even turned a blind eye to my overweight luggage a few times. Good airline. |

| Sorry to hear about your rotten JAL experience Glimmer. I have flown them twice and have had no major problems. We did have a flight delay due to an engine problem but hey, take all the time you need on that one. Good service, nice cabin crew and nice food. Luggage arrived on time. I'd fly JAL again. |

Love the JAL.
My best flights were all with them. Never seen service that good, food is enjoyable and multimedia options enjoyable (lots of movies, radio options, english newspapers).
But absolutely hate the leg room (gotta be one of the worst for that). Once I figured out to always get an emergency exit aisle seat... it has been stretched legs glory ever since.
I'm going on vacation with Korean Air this holiday season but I did check to see if I could with JAL first, but didn't feel like having an extra connecting flight. |

JAL are a solid airline.I've flown with them twice and had positive experiences both times.
On one trans-pacific trip,I fell asleep during the meal service only to awaken some hours later to find a lovely red sticker attached to the front of my shirt.
The sticker said,"while you were sleeping,we had our meal service,if you woould like to eat now, please contact one of our flight attendants."
I thought that was pretty dam classy.
The Air Canada flight attendants will shake you violently from your slumber in order to give you your dinner.
It's happened to me a few times in the past.I was restfully sleeping and having nice dreams, only to be awakened by a hollering,55 year old, obese, feminazi with a silk scarf, Air Canada flight attendant with a scowl on her face and a dish of chicken in her hand. |
