| As related to quite a few foreigners here I don't think her comments are too far off their mark. Anyhow, if you don't like the show...then don't watch it. Who the heck stays up that late anyway? |

Korea doesn't have enough women to go around since parents want sons.
If this show is aimed at college students the males will be 'on the alert' ready to (patriotically) block rogue, drunken, wandering foreign players who most 'probably' (being foreigners) have AIDS, anyway.
The female college students watching the show will tighten their chastity belts.
Foreigners are less than 1% of the population. Did this show mention foreigners supposedly have AIDS? If that's the thinking then the show is bug control. |

Yep, leave it to Korean media outlets to promote a program like this...Look at the time of day the program is on in the first place...The only people watching it are probably the Korean guys and gals who are hold up in some place cozy in the first place, where they have other things on their minds than to be watching this rubbish...
Take it for what it is, weak minded program managers and producers who are into sensationalism just as much as western media types...The show is nothing more than the typical smoke and mirror routines to cover up the large amount of vile and corrupt actions taking place in this country by their own people, which have no need of foreign influence... |

| It sells. It plays on Korea's fears and paranoia the same way Bush plays on America's fears and paranoia. Besides, like others have said, look at the time of the show, obviously it's not being watched by many people. Shows like this can upset you if you let it, but most Koreans can decide for themselves whether foreigners are good or not. Most Koreans already have perceptions of foreigners that can't be changed anyhow. |

The media is really bored. There isn't any sensational news or foreign antogonists to focus on so they have to write and show media reports on their own residential foreign invaders: us.
So we need to deflect that attention on something else...
...hmmm...how 'bout several of us slap on some face paint and camouflauge [F<It camuffare to disguise], throw on some WW2 vintage Japanese military uniforms, fashion some fake rifles outta tree limbs and storm the Dokdo islands using little fishing boats.
That outta give us a good 1 or 2 year respite. |

On Korean Drama...i forget the name.....
My gf was watching, and i had to ask her if what i heard was real...
Man: "Oh honey, haha, you're coming out of those pants. They don't fit you like they used to., hahaha. I can't recognize you now!"
Woman (in a slight shock): "Haha, what? Do I look like a foreigner or something?"
The Korean media is full of ignorant, imbecilic crap.
Korean women watch, and then go out and get their eyes widened, eyelids installled, nose raised and skin whitened. |

there is a show devoted to the defamation of every foriegn teacher here - claiming that we are all out to have sex with korean women and take all their money. this is about 12:15am tuesday morning on the olive channel. the title of the show is jo jil ho saek han - wer guk in gang sa (takes too long to type korean)
is anyone else watching this? they are covertly filming a western teacher and pinning him for upsetting his ex girlfriend or something. this show is literally making my blood boil as i watch this!!!!!!!!!
this are saying foriegn teachers are not screen properly, showing books written by westernes about how to pick up korean chicks, taking covert films outside popular western nightspots in seoul and basically trying to take a giant **** on us all!!!!
every single comments these westerners say is being taken completely out of context - and then you have some overracting narrator MC type woman telling koreans to be careful of us westerners! no mention of all the korean girls and guys who willingly go to these clubs to hang out.
i hope someone else is watching this ! thoughts? |
Create a film where Korean Teachers are beating the shit out of students in a classroom with extreme force. Make it really dramatic with lots of crying, some blood and yelling. |

No, they'll wonder what all of the fuss is about and then loosen them.

i took the time to read some of the posts to the message board of this show, and to my pleasant surprise a good number of the korean posts spoke out in defence of those of us who are here for the right reasons!
anyway here is my post
First of all, I would like to congratulate the producers of this show for making Korea take yet another huge step back in terms of international relations and racial equality! It takes a smart bunch to find some frat boys 3 months off the boat to back up your 'theories' about western teachers - but you are not telling both sides of the story!
There are many teachers here who are either married, planning to marry or are currently in a long term relationship with a Korean woman or man. Those of us who have made a commitment to staying in Korea and abiding by and enjoying Korean customs for the rest of our lifetime. These are the western teachers who are helping this great country to compete in international markets and push Korean students and businesses to succeed on the global stage. Without the assistance of great western teachers such as these, the state of English Education in this country would still be in the pre-IMF doldrums. Yet by 'warning' Koreans about the 'Dangers' of the 'filthy waygooks' - you are putting into jeopardy all of the hard work that Koreans and Western teachers have put in over the years to make Korea a country that enjoys racial tolerance and cultural stability.
The points made in your show are valid. Yes it is too easy to get an E-2 Visa, and yes, a lot of the foriegn teachers here are of low quality with forged qualifications - but those types can be easily found - and those types are the kind of people that we, as PROFESSIONAL LANGUAGE EDUCATORS - absolutley DESPISE, as they (by their own actions, as well as the actions of shows like these) show us all in a bad light.
However, I will say that the kind of girls who go to specifically WESTERN clubs and bars are the kind of girls who are interested in possibly dating (and sleeping with) western men. I'm not saying that is all they go there for, but the fact that it is a possibility would have crossed their mind before they go in. if they merely wanted a study partner - there are plenty of hagwons, study rooms and foriegn friends they can meet for that purpose. Going to a WESTERN bar dressed in a mini skirt and drinking until morning is not a sign that the Korean girls are looking for a study partner - they are out enjoying themselves instead. We are not dragging them into these clubs and raping them - the women enjoy the clubs, so they WANT to go. (at least in our clubs, women are not dragged by waiters into private rooms so they can 'meet' korean men through 'booking' - but that is another matter entirely) (hell, westerners can't even ENTER Korean clubs without a Korean friend). As for the 'book' - I have not met ONE or even heard of ONE westerner who has actually seen, let alone read that book. I wouldn't be surprised if a 'news' agency like yours wrote it hoping to get some juicy airtime gossip with it. We don't need a book to say the right thing to girls - we can do it because (most) of us are nice guys!
anyway - this is far too long of a rant. I just hope that the Koreans reading this post (and thankyou so much to the level headed Koreans who have already posted here in protest at this show - you guys are the future of this country!) can take some time to think about us westerners who are here - not because we came to steal your women or take your money - but because we saw something in this nation that made us want to stay!
Peace!
