My school has advertised but no interest. I just don't get it. Public school and high salary but no bites.
Is this telling us something? Has the interest in public schools run out? Are teachers feeling the money is not worth the regular hours, not to mention the big classes?
I know the market is full of public school positions, but this is one of the good ones. Personally, it doesn't mean anything to me. I'm off regardless. I'm just curious if there is somehting else out there attracting all the attention.
As I haven't been searching the market in some time, maybe others can add some insight to this. |

Is your position in the countryside? Some of the outlying areas are sweetening the deals to draw ELIs away from Seoul (and Gyeonggi-do for that matter.) |

No, I'm in a great city with everything you need. Bucheon is between Seoul and Incheon.
But, you may be right. Incentives may be the key. |

I think it is just a factor of too many jobs, and not enough teachers. As well, there are quite a few public schools who are hiring directly (not through epik, gepik, or smoe), and these schools offer some considerably better benefits (especially a longer vacation, but also no housing deposit deducted from your salary, etc.). I don't know what your position is offering, but scrolling through PS jobs, I don't even stop to look when I see the standard "14 days vacation," because I know there are public schools out there that will give me more. |

maybe the offer is solid so people assume it is one of those BS offers where they show a good job then tell it has been taken but there is this beautiful hagwon with no benefits, visa, or vacation time that will pay 1.5 million... |

Yeah, I'm not sure where they are advertising exactly. But, I do know it's for real.
My biggest complaint about the school is probably with the vacation. Although it states 14 days it usually ends up with many more. Like I said, good school.
private schools do have that advantage of throwing in those perks like added vacation time. |

Is the contact email address with hanmail or Daum? Yahoo, hotmail and others are blocked by Korean email servers.
