|
|
July 23rd - August 24th. August 15th being the only day off. 4 Hours a day, 5 days a week.
By the end of my summer, I would have "camped" over 840 students. |

How many classes (teaching hours) are you actually going to work? Are you getting good extra pay for it? Work with a mix of foreigners and Koreans? Might not be bad..I've done two-week camps before and they're alright..
I'm teaching straight through this year as well, no vacation. Getting extra pay though.. |

Was your 24 hour a day camp an option or not? |

No overtime. They made the schedule so I only teach 20 hours a week. However, is there a maximum number of hours for summer camp?
The way it is now, I'll be teaching 96 hours worth of summer camp. |

Question...is middle school done this week?? Is that why you start camp next Monday? Huh. My elementary school finishes Friday July 20th.
Have fun at camp...I did the exact same thing in January. First and last time. |

Your maximum number of hours for summer camp is standard 22 hours/week.
My school tried to schedule me for 4 weeks of summer camp. I told them good luck and warned them about using up my 15 days of sick leave days. A day later, they came back and said I only have to do 2 weeks of summer camp and I can take the other two weeks as additional vacation.
I now have 4 weeks of vacation and 2 weeks of camp. |

There were 2 contracts made this year with GEPIK though. The first contract they put out stated 20 or 40 hours total per camp, but the second contract said we must teach up to 20 hours a week. The first contract also gave 2 hours of paid vacation for each hour of overtime worked, but the second contract went down to a 1:1 ratio. I originally signed the first contract, but was told that I had to sign the second one or my school would not hire me |

My first gig in Korea was at an elementary School. The winter vacation period at this school was extremely long...9 weeks. I did 8 weeks of camp that winter period with no o.t. pay. Of course, it was my first teaching gig. I worked hard and got through it. A got a glowing recommendation from the Principal and moved into better things. A few more years experience and now I'm at a school with no camps and 5 weeks summer vacation. |

Don't you have one or two weeks contractual paid holiday time you could use to break that time up? |
