|
Looking for info on Pyeongtaek.
Any universities in the area?
What does it have to offer in the way of pubs and restaurants?
Any shopping malls in Pyeongtaek?
Also, how long does it take to get to Seoul from Pyeongtaek?
What's the best mode of transport to take - train / bus?
Can one get to Seoul for under W4,000?
Overall, how do / did you like living in Pyeongtaek?
Thanks. |

I once made it from Pyeongtaek to Seoul in an hour since there was no traffic. |

Its a small quiet town. One shopping mall. Lots of markets. Only good benefit is the US Army base 10 minutes away by bus. If you are single you might be very bored. Its about 90 minutes on train to seoul. If you want nightlife, dont go there. Peace and quiet and fresh country air..go for it. |

It does have clean country air, but is not very pretty - perhaps the least pretty place in Korea. The expat community seems to have declined as well. If you are by yourself, I imagine you will be spending a lot of time heading out of Pyongtaek to meet others. It takes about 1-2 hours on the bus or train/subway to get to Seoul...depending on where you are going. That's all I can think of right now. |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Osan Base is right there.. along with Songtan.
Meaning you have an international selection of restaurants (probably third best in the greater Seoul area) right behind Itaewon and Hongdae.
You'd also have a lot of dart bars and pool tables and the like because of the Air Force base as well in Songtan.
Maybe not an overriding reason to live there.. but its not like there is really NOTHING there whatsoever for miles and miles around. |
