My students have been drumming away on the table like nobodies business.

They tell me that it's because of a video on the internet of some boy drumming on a table.

Anybody know who the little turd is that is causing mass disruption in the classroom?

Yeah, the two brothers-of-Chuckie idiots i have in one of my classes do it. I don't mind because it's replaced their forced laugh, laughing hyena immitation.

Are the students going to start wearing wellies (gum boots/rubbers) and basing dustbin lids in class?

UCC = User Created Content. So youtube etc. Basically creating your own videos.

NANTA has been around for a long time. It's a non-verbal performing arts group that uses percussion instruments to tell a story.

My students call it "Pen beat", and it drives me up the friggin' wall! I tell my students that's not allowed (which of course only makes them want to do it more), so now they are using pencils, erasers, pencil cases, anything that will produce that damned sound.
It's to the point where my first two minutes of class is me telling them what kind of "beats" they aren't allowed to do...under penalty of me beating them...which makes them laugh.

I write every day no "no desk music" on the blackboard. They understand the penalty if they violate a rule on the blackboard. Extra homework. Me in their face yelling.

How to put long urls in the url tag and not screw up our screens:

[ url=http://www.long.com]click me[/url]

(remove the space)

Or

http://www.tinyurl.com and paste in the new tiny url.

I found a few videos on Naver.

It's interesting. On Friday this wasn't happening yet by Monday there was a craze.

It appears that some boy on Friday night produced an outstanding pen beat video which inspired all the kids to copy it.

Maybe it's just at this school and it's kicked off here late.

Internet has a lot to answer for.

This is an international thing, like the Free Hugs, but far more irritating for teachers. Christ on a leather bear.
