gaaackk!! another person who thinks this world is a "stepping stone" to heaven or hell. the energy of this world is illusory? sorry rteacher, the energy of this world is the only energy you know.
why? why live your life on this planet, on which we may have 80-90 years, hoping waiting, PRAYING, to enter the "kingdom of god"? what a waste of time. and fun. and life. |

Yes, I know.
I read the same thing in one of Meher Baba's writings. |

Colossians 2:7-9 (New International Version)
7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on the Messiah.
9 For in the Messiah all the fullness of the Father lives in bodily form, 10 and you have been given fullness in Him, who is the head over every power and authority.
How many powers was that, and how many authorities?
골로새서 2:7-10 (Korean Bible)

I dont have scientific data, Ive just noticed over the course of my life, that ever person I have ever met who has converted to christianity as an adult is weak emotionally and intellectually. It`s not science, but it`s a very strong pattern, and other people seem to have had the same findings. |

Your book is wrong.
Let me ask you, do you even know the difference between DNA and RNA? What is special about mitochondria? You've demonstrated gross ignorance of evolution and big bang in about 4 different posts, I hardly think you've got the basic scientific literacy to understand evolutionary theory or big bang cosmology. If you would like to learn, please, come to the evolution thread.
Also, your premise is wrong. It's called a false dichotomy. Evolution and god can coexist. Yes, evolution makes it very hard to interpret Genesis literally, but millions of Christians do okay believing in both Evolution, god, and that parts of the bible are allegory.

Now this is why I shut my mouth about most things nonbiblical when discussing the Bible. I would definitely qualify to have that said to me in a lot of areas of expertise.
In my life, I understand that the Creator as outlined in the Bible doesn't need defending. He doesn't need us at all. Creation was a desire, not a necessity, says the Bible, and as far from the very beginning as I was born, I wasn't given to know everything. I might always listen when it comes to evolution and stuff, by nature opposed to the biblical viewpoint--opposed to the Divine nature--because, while many things are as interesting as the stories of Zeus and his crew, it just isn't necessary to go off challenging everything everyone thinks is something.
It's tempting to jump into the quicksand in another's backyard, though, I know. |

Brackets indicate what Darwin added in the second edition:
"There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed [by the Creator] into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved"
Darwin, Charles. The Origin of the Species.
Atheists often are more conversant with the Bible and theology than Christians. Sometimes I think they usually are. |

Meher Baba was a nonsense impersonalist who died while passing stool, indicating that his soul went to hell (he did have a neat mustache, however, and a very popular catch-phrase: "Don't Worry, Be Happy!"... ) He maintained a vow of silence for a long time, and his followers eagerly awaited the day that he would speak something so profound that it would enlighten the entire world - but all he could come out with was a gurgling death rattle - if I recall correctly (I'm sure his current followers have a revised historical account...)
I think that the only chance we have to obtain perfect knowledge of what's beyond material birth and death is to properly receive it from pure devotees in disciplic succession from God who personify scriptural teachings:
...The conditioned soul thinks, "I am this body," but a liberated soul thinks, "I am not this body. I am spirit soul." This "I am" is called ego, or identification of the self. "I am this body" or "Everything in relationship to the body is mine" is called false ego, but when one is self-realized and thinks that he is an eternal servitor of the Supreme Lord, that identification is real ego. One conception is in the darkness of the threefold qualities of material nature goodness, passion and ignorance and the other is in the pure state of goodness, called śuddha-sattva or vāsudeva. When we say that we give up our ego, this means that we give up our false ego, but real ego is always present. When one is reflected through the material contamination of the body and mind in false identification, he is in the conditional state, but when he is reflected in the pure stage he is called liberated. The identification of oneself with one's material possessions in the conditional stage must be purified, and one must identify himself in relationship with the Supreme Lord. In the conditioned state one accepts everything as an object of sense gratification, and in the liberated state one accepts everything for the service of the Supreme Lord. Kṛṣṇa consciousness, devotional service, is the actual liberated stage of a living entity. Otherwise, both accepting and rejecting on the material platform or in voidness or impersonalism are imperfect conditions for the pure soul...

Even when all the gurus say the same thing,
as in this case? |

For since in the wisdom of God the world did not come to know God through wisdom, it was the will of God through the foolishness of preaching to save those who have faith.
For Jews demand signs and Greeks look for widsom, but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those who are called, Jews and Greeks alike, Christ the power and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
Consider your own calling, brothers, not man of you were wise by human standards, not many powerful, or of noble birth.
But God chose the foolish to confound/shame the wise, the weak to shame the strong, and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing in the world's eyes, to reduce to nothing those who are something, or think they are something, that no human being might boast before God.
It is due to Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, so that as it is written,
"Whoever boasts should boast in the LORD."
1 Cor.
We will all stand before Jesus someday. He will judge every single one of us. He will not judge us on our IQ's, for He gave some people more than others in that regard. But rather He will judge us on whether or not we trusted in Him and obeyed Him. I'd rather be a saved simpleton than a hell-bound genius. God loves everybody equally: He is not partial. He is a good, kind, and loving God and worthy of all praise.

Well you can't be fairer than that, can you? Certainly not vainer. At least you found someone to blame your low IQ on. |

"The more a man argues, the higher 'egos."
I know that, and I'm not enlightened in the least. Just really studious, in the biblical sense. |
