The best Italian I've had in Korea is at the Italian place in Itaewon. Its called Santini's or Santorino's or San----- something. Anywya, its near hte fire station. I thought it was damn good.

Dos Tacos has restaurants in Hongdae, Apkujeong and Gangnam.

Theres another decent mexi place in Hongdae that's more formal, but I don't remember the name. It's near the park.

There is a great Italian place in Sincheon. Walk toward Yonsei Uni and it will be on your right. "Parmi Italiano" is the name (I think) and there's a statue of an Italian chef. The owner is a really nice guy and speaks English.

Sortino's is one of the best if not the best Italian restaurant in Seoul. Agreed, you're not going to find good Mexican in Seoul. You're better off making it at home.

Dos Tacos is excellent! Avoid the nachos and quesadillas.

ooh I love restaurant threads...(maybe i'ts because I'm hungry now)

I've only been there once, but the burrito I had at dos tacos in gangnam was pretty awful.

try Taco Amigo in Itaewon, Taco Chili Chili in Noksapyeong, or Choi's Taco in Shinchon.

has anyone tried that Casa Loca chain?

OP wants outside of Itaewon.

And where is Choi's Taco in Sinchon?

oh oops i didn't see that part.

here's a link to choi's: http://traceystark.blogspot.com/2006/04/chois-tacos-muy-bien.html

oh and another good non-itaewon Italian place is Nolita Garden near gangnam station. The best part is that they're open till 2 am! You can get your late night pasta fix.

Itaewon has three mexican restaurants that I know of, and HongDae has 3 as well. Shinchon has 2 I think. Don't know specifically about elsewhere, but I see them popping up all over in strange places.

ITAEWON:

CHILIS is the best for burritos in Itaewon. Get out at Noksapyeong Station and walk down the hill from the overpass. It's on the right side of the street next to Thunder Burger.

PANCHOS is also in Itaewon with pool tables.

ANOTHER MEXICAN restaurant is more or less behind Geckos.. just go to Geckos and then walk down that street going away from Hamilton Hotel. I always found the food very mediocre there.

HONGDAE:

CASA MAYA: That is the one overlooking the park across from Hongik front gate. Very good food.

MARGARITAS: It is behind COFFEE BEAN which is visible from Hongik front gate.

ANOTHER MEXICAN restaurant is located on the main street going from the front gate towards the subway direction. It's near the Subways Restaurant.

-----------------

ITALIAN RESTAURANTS:

Be careful here.. and many use Korean-influenced sauces which really ruin it. There are a couple in HongDae that I know of that don't.. but can't think of their names off-hand.

Did said foreigner go bulimic during the buffet time? If so, awesome. Just making room for another round.

The Mexican chef there who makes the tacos is really friendly. He'll hook ya up with corn tortillas and cilantro, which most people don't have the sense to order.

However, even Casa Loca, at its absurd price, still can't seem to get beef right. In fact, I've not had one single decent carne asada taco in Korea (even from what i've made). Skirt and flank steak just don't seem too common here, so they use that weird thin-sliced bulgogi cut and mince it up.

And well, if I'm going for chicken...I can make better chicken burritos at home. Breakfast burritos are really easy for that matter too.
