Can an employer legally not pay you for the days you are in Japan getting your visa?

Considering that if you don't have a visa, you're not legal....yes.

My local Gepik office tried to pull that stunt on me. He informed me AFTER I did the visa run that the two days were not 'paid days.' I freakin snapped. Another case of Koreans making up new rules as they wish. I would never have signed with a school which refused to pay for those days. But that's Korea. Conceal as much information from the foreign teacher as possible. Then spring the news on them after the fact. Evil or Very Mad Anyway, I wrote a nasty letter to the local education office and they eventually backed down


Just say 'no'.
