Last couple of weeks:

Me: "Gee, my back is a bit sore today"
Korean teacher: (laughs) "Yes, it's a nice day"

Stopped at the lights on my scooter and a bunch of highschool boys walk past . One says "Hiii" in a real gay voice, then another says "I love YOU" Confused

I was trying to help a 25 year old male student with the difference in pronunciation between "L" and "R"- with lots of mouth and tongue demonstration. In front of another teacher, and other students, he said to me, with a straight face and seemingly sincerely, "Kiss me." If I didn't know him well, I would think that he was trying to be a smart-ass. I still haven't figured out how to take it.

The first day of a one on one class, with a 28 year old man who'd spent several years living in California. His first question was:

"Can we shag?"

I have to admit that he is one of my loveliest students. I also have to admit that he is many, many years younger. And, his IS my student. Haven't kissed one of them for years.

When the student asked "Can we shag?" I'm sure I turned approximately 7 shades of red, and bit my cheek to keep from laughing. Laughing

The guy explained that he wanted to know if that was an acceptable pickup line. If he was still in the country I think I'd have to refer him to Kiwiboy. .

I had a student e-mail me and say that she wanted to get to know me 'intimately'. I guess that's what happens when you use a thesaurus too much.

That is a word that is commonly misused by Koreans. I think that the Korean word (can't remember it) directly translates to intimate in English. On my student evaluations I often get comments like we want kimcheeking to be more intimate. or I am very intimate with Kimcheeking.

Basically they mean friendly.

I said this when I was tired and at an outing with a number of other teachers from the uni: "I want to go home."
Korean professor: "But you can't 'go home.' Korea isn't your home."
Thanks for the welcome, butt-munch.
In a similar vein, does ANYONE ELSE get this series of questions:
"Where are you from?"
"I am from America."
"When you go back home?"

I was a little shocked at the time to come back with a witty come back but now I would say 'more than you can afford'

Here is an inappropriate gift

For my birthday I got underwear from a co worker.

Here is a story from my friend.

In class a kid asked him if he had a g/f, and he said I dont have a girlfriend.

Then a kid made the motion with his hands of a hole and a finger going in and out, and he said...then teacher no f-ckie!!
