I have found that the best way to pick up a Korean lady is to walk into a bar all by yourself (not in Itaewon or Hongdae), dressed like you are not trying to pick up, and enjoy. (Sorry, that sounds a bit cocky. Doesn't work all the time, but I seem to have a success rate of once every two weeks)

It seems whenever I go looking, I get nothing. But when I'm just out for a quiet one, the ladies come a calling.

And remember, there are so many smaller areas jammed with bars and women. There is life beyond Itaewon and Hongdae. (much, much better life) Another trick, if you are the only foreigner in the bar ... gold!

I've tried the interenet and it hasn't gotten me anywhere (must be better looking in person than in photos)

Let's look at Coffeecup, shall we?

Happy boy comes strolling into town, fill of piss, pepper-spray at his side, and dead certain that he's the man who can get all the ass he desires.

Spends two weekends straight getting shot down.

Each time, he runs off to the messageboard and whines, "You guys lied to me. I was expecting easy Korean skanks. I only found non-Korean skanks. And they didnt like me. How is that possible?! If I cant get laid easily, then neither can you."

So, in a few messages, he has shown us the following personailty traits:

1- Arrogance: He feels he's far superior to the rest of the posters here. If he cant get some, then obviously, the losers here are lying about it.

2- Poor reading skills: Anyone who's had the misfortune to have read Derrek's messed-up attitudes about women knows that using him as your guide is like signing up for the Donner Party. (look it up)

3- YellowFever: He complains that most of the women he saw weren't Korean. I guess that means he considers non-asians undesirable. What, are they are missing the right equipment for a one night stand?

Simply put: A creepy guy comes to Korea expecting to becme Charisma Man, and fails miserably at it. Then he decides to blame everyone for his lack of charm.

Great to have him on the board.

you gotta relax, it is easy here, but it takes time. By just trying to pick up girls in clubs you are limiting yourself. Do street and subway pickups, it's fun and it kills the time. You get better and better at it and you got no competition, as not many other other guys are doing it. It is also fun to see the look of shock and awe on the Korean men sitting around when you make a move. I know one guy who has been doing this for the last year, his close ratio is about 40% and he does it every journey...he has shagged over a hundred girls in the 16 months....
Sometimes girls will aproach in a club/bar but you gotta do it for yourself. Sitting around whining and bitching isn't gonna get you laid, and doubting other peoples success with women/career etc just makes you look bad. Relax, life is too short....

Coffeecup, if one can't get some action in Hongdae, Shinchon or Itaewon at least once in a while, one should first look in the mirror for somebody to blame. Seriously, you shouldn't expect to "score" 100% of the time you go out, assuming that is what you're looking for. Having said that, there was certainly no shortage of people looking for relationships - short-term, long-term, and everything in between - back in '96 and '97, and rumor has it that Koreans have become somewhat more open in terms of sex since then. None of my single friends seem to be too lonely these days...

hey buddy, you kinda remind me of myself the first 3 weeks I was here...I was like, why is such and such with that girl and I'm not? you just gotta relax and get used to the game...certain girls are after certain things...you'll get used to it and become a player in no time...but to think people are lying about their escapades is ridiculous and immature...this shyt's easier than college, and everyone knows, "No one gets laid in college" right coffee?
