I have a friend who just got screwed by his hagwon. One of my Korean friends is going to help him out. It got me thinking. She doesn't work and we're learning labor law, maybe this is something she can do for other teachers. What kind of fee should she charge? There's always talks of unions and such, which is illegal. This is a call out to see if we can start setting up this kind of service for teachers in need all over Korea. If it's set up like a business it shouldn't be illegal. Before anyone jumps on blasting me, this isn't to profit off other peoples suffering. I was just thinking a small fee to cover her time which would be much less than hiring a translator. There would be no need for paying dues this way. A lot of posters here know Korean labor law, so why couldn't we set this up?Would this work, and how could we organize this? Is this a way we could fight corrupt hagwon owners? |

Why would someone hire your friend when there's free help at the labor board, and efl-law.com? |

efl-law.com sucks in my opinion. They have a couple of strange people moderating in that forum. |

My friend's hagwon told him the school is closing, in his eleventh month, and then placed an ad for a new teacher and gave him an LOR. The labor board said there was nothing they can do, so we're going to help him. When I went to labor in Incheon, no one spoke English and I had to find a translator, they DO NOT provide one. And the fact that the proccess takes so long. I think if someone went in there who knew exactly what to do it wouldn't be so disorganized. And I don't only mean my friend, since we're only in one area. I meant us, the teachers, doing something nationwide. |

efl-law.com doesn't exist anymore. At least the forums don't. They were added to the Pusanweb crap, and the main guy (the actual lawyer) left b/c of other commitments.
The Labour Board is the best bet for help.
