I tried a search but got nothing. Does anyone know anything about Kwangju Foreign School? I've seen their website and it looks OK.
Thanks for any information. |

Just a word to the wise: websites can be little more than all singing and dancing with little or no substance. Speak to all teachers (not the person your replacing) and ask lots of questions. |

I'm at work right now, so i'm not going to search around too hard for information, but if I recall correctly it's operated by a foreigner. (Robert Holley?) If it's the same place there have been some posts about it. Do a search on his name here, or google it. I think there have been a few posters who worked there.

Is it this one? There is also a Busan Foreign School which is somehow connected to the Kwangju Foreign School.
I know someone who used to work at the Busan Foreign School and she didn't have many good things to say about it.

I have heard that they play in a basketball league with other foreign schools, and that most of the students are Korean fluent English speakers. Kwangju foreign school like other foreign schools is run on the American system, and is geared to-wards placing students in universities in the U.S.
Most foreign schools are overloaded with students from pre-school to Middle school. The numbers dwindle in the highschools, because a lot of parents take em out and either put them back in Korean schools or send them abroad (or go with them abroad while the father stays home finds a girlfriend and sends money to the wife who might also find a foreign boyfriend). Other parents use foreign schools to learn English only and then put them back in Korean schools for their highschool years. |

Could you give me some details? I've seen their contract and it looks like one for a BAD hagwon. The only reason I am thinking about it is I want the experience at an accredited international school.
They don't strike me as the most honest, as their ad says they provide return airfare but they max it out at 1,000,000 to be paid in two installments! I get the feeling they have had runners in the past. They don't seem to be very trusting of teachers.
Would you happen to know the Dave's ID of the person who worked there?
Thanks for you help. |
