Has anyone been? I heard there was some kind of application I need to fill out and send before I can set foot on the island. Any truth to this? What is accomodation like on the island--where is it and how much?

Any advice / shared expereinces would be great.

Thanks!

JTC

You can't stay there. It's just a few rocks. There is a path/area you can walk on but that's about it.

So I guess I'd have to stay on Ulleung-Do and take a day trip to Dokdo? Is that the way it's generally done?

Yes.
I went to Ulleungdo with AdventureKorea and some people opted to go to Dokdo. However, the itinerary changed a little, so those people had to go there on the same day we arrived on Ulleungdo... the seas were very very rough... and took much longer to get there and back... a lot of throwing up to be had all around on that boat, I heard.

i saw part of a program on arirang the other day about a group of international students who went there on a day trip. apparently once you've been there you'll understand that it is korean territory. Rolling Eyes
