Holy crap...that video is amazing. The super high high hat is great. Do you have any idea what the lyrics are? Something about "have a sandwhich, niebelungen, niebelungen!" Good stuff either way.

As a Chicagoan, I thought the DC video at the Fireside was awesome.

Love the album! Definitely one the best I've heard so far this year. I enjoy the tweaked vocals and feels it improves their sound compared to earlier EPs. This where the comparisons to Animal Collective end (another band I really enjoy).

I have not heard anything else by Battles. You're saying this LP is the best so far?

I have AC "Feels" but I've never really listened to it--is that one recommended or are there others you like?

weird -- that link about the lyrics' meaning has died since yesterday.

i heard they wanted to keep it secret -- but i doubt there's a conspiracy involved...

something like:

"the singer is a crook, woah-a-o...
the kitchen is a cook, woah-a-o...
the scissors are the barber, woah-a-o...
the chorus doesn't matter..."

The singing off of "Feels" sort of annoyed me at first, but the album has completely grown on me. "Did you see the Words?" is an excellent song.

"Sung Tongs", the album before "Feels", is another really good one.

There is a bit of self-masturbatory stuff on each of their albums, but their earlier stuff, Danse Manatee, Campfire Songs, Here Comes the Indian, is much harder to listen to.

The new one, Strawberry Jam, is more along the lines of "Feels" and "Sung Tongs"

Panda Bear is the solo work of one of AC's members. I fully recommend the Young Prayer album if you enjoy weirdo psychedelia.

Music that takes a while to grow on me has much more longevity.

As the other poster suggested, Don Caballero is also very good, but more on the math rock instrumental tip.

Battles are my favourite band...so good live as well. I prefer the early eps though, atlas is an ok track but they've gone too commercial and more radio friendly now.

I love sz2 , dance and hi-low from the early eps

Hella is amazing!!! At least "Hold Your Horse Is". Lightning Bolt is a little noiser, but amazing nonetheless. I've had the pleasure of seeing both bands live. Their respective drummers are too incredible to be human.
