I'm not, I weigh in at 220lbs on a broad shouldered 6ft 2ins frame. I train with weights and do hard cardio 3 times a week.

I have heard however that Koreans like to point out physical imperfections to folk, ie: 'you're fat'

I'm sure in my present state, I will be described as fat by some but what is the play about giving them a verbal beatdown back?

The thing is, coming from as hard and as nasty a playground I have (being called Carlos and being raised in Wigan, Lancashire) I don't mind being called fat just as long as the critic can take a verbal critique of the their physical apperance. Can the Korean critics take it back? Cool

But everyday I here you are fat or 똥배 when I'm down to where I want to be I will tell every fat Korean the samething. See how they like it. I tell my mother in law all the time now she is fat. She said the samething to me months ago now it's payback Laughing

Most people here can dish it out but really don't take it too well if it's dished right back at them, particularly from a lowly foreigner.

I remember an amusing story on here from a couple of years back. A guy was waiting for a bus and this girl came up to him and out of the blue starting saying he was fat and that he looked like he was pregnant, giggling all the while she said it. The guy remarked that she also looked like she was carrying a couple of extra pounds. She then became sullen, and he later looked behind on the bus to see her weeping over his remark.

Nice one mate, keep going! Smile won't take long now!

Are you eating Korean food along with the exercise regime? I envision Korean food being healthy and I bein able to 'cutup' while eating decent grub. Very Happy

Hahaha Very Happy

Why would people do that knowing that there is a chance that a comeback is on the way.

As an English teacher, I'm hope to teach the good people of Korea about
British culture as well as the language. And anyone who wants to take me up on my imperfections has to realize that if they come to the UK. The average fat, spotty chav will not take kindly to their imperfections being pointed out to them by someone of the Oriental persuasion.

So... I think engaging in critical discourse with anyone who wants to point out my physical perfection's. I'm doing them a big favour as big fat spotty Darren won't be so engaging. (Unless it is boot to head)

Why would anyone in their right mind eat Kraft dinner & instant food? If I have to get fat by eating, I would rather get fat from real tasty gourmet food than Kraft dinner & instant food. And those food make you gain weight much more easily than real cooked food anyway.

Although this subject has been discussed to death on other threads recently, I'll throw in my 2 pounds. (so to speak).

I have noticed too that many Koreans can dish it out but can't take it. I, like many male foreigners here have lost weight and packed on some muscle. I occasionally got the fat comments but now that I am 10% body fat I get nothing but compliments. Nobody calls me fat anymore. Nice feeling.
Unless you have a genetic condition, I think anyone can get into good shape in this country. The food is generally healthy and joining a gym is easy.

I agree that there have been a lot of subjects on Korean forthrighness about weight issues and I did read those theads, but all I want to know is how Koreans take abuse back Laughing If there is a 'face saving' culture in Korea and then any said individual decides to call me fat (if any of the K teachers do it in front of a class or colleagues for example) they'll lose face allright... and their head with it if they carry on! Cool

I don't want anyone hating me forever because we got into a conversation about our bodily inperfections. Shocked
