Has anyone ever gone through the Atlanta airport without a tourist visa? Did you have problems if you did? If you didn't have problems, which airline did you use. I don't have time to get one, because I had to renew my passport for my upcoming job at the end of this month. Any replies greatly appreciated!

I think the question is kind of vague. You have a job in Atlanta or elsewhere? And what visa are you talking about? From what country?

If it's the US, you wouldn't be able to even transfer at the airport without a tourist or transit visa.

I've read that some airports will let you through without a tourist visa. So that's what I was asking about. Thanks.

I don't think so anymore. You need to get the visa to transfer now (best to get the tourist visa, not the transfer one because you have more options). This has been the policy for a couple of years. If you do get the visa, you can exit the airport. If not, you will be turned back by the INS since most US airports don't even have a common transfer area. I don't think ATL has one for international flights, but I haven't been there for a few years and I know they're building some new terminals there.

think the op is referring to originating at atl. you may have to show an onward ticket or visa when checking in. some airlines will do it some dont. when flying back to korea from austin on a tourist visa last year my wife didnt have to show her onward ticket at either check-in or at immigration here

korean immigration doesn't care and won't ask for proof of a ticket to leave.

As far as ATL goes, it is a crapshoot. As HG said, depends on the airline and the person at the check-in counter. I think your odds are good if you fly an intl. carrier or a domestic/intl combo (such as delta to LA, then Korean Air to Korea). If you just go with delta, more likely they'll be difficult on you.

Well, as much as I'd like not to have to spend the money for a tourist visa for two days (yikes Smile, I'll go ahead and get one. I'm going to fly on Korean Air, because I can get a non-stop ticket to Seoul - no changing planes, worries about baggage, etc. The last thing I would want to do is be turned back once I get to the airport, so might as well be safe and not sorry! I do appreciate everyone's advice, though. Smile

You still never answered where you're from originally and what citizenship you have.

Dude, what the hell is your question?

You live in Atlanta and are a US citizen and you want to go through the Atlanta airport? Why would you need a tourist visa to go through an American airport when you are American?????

By going "through" Atlanta do you mean you are flying from point A to Atlanta to point B? What is point A? Point B?

Or are you starting in Atlanta and flying to point B? Again, what is point B?

Start over. Details. CLEAR, WELL-WRITTEN DETAILS please.

And as for your question about viass expiring, WHICH visa are you talking about?

First of all, I am not a 'dude.' I'm a woman, thank you very much!

I am leaving Atlanta, GA for Ulsan, South Korea at the end of this month. Clear enough for you?

And as far as visa expiring, I know they do now. (E-2). I was too tired when I wrote that message questions.
