So the day has arrived to "Eat the meat to beat the summer!" (I made that up myself).
Headin up the hill to the fortress to indulge in some boiled canine deliciousness with my lady and her family. Should be a good time as it's a beautiful sunny day!

Anybody else indulging today? If not, be warned that you may be forced to face the rest of the summer with little to no energy!!

Yep, it's a great chance to contribute to animal cruelty.

You'll be a proud person knowing that you're giving money to people who intentionally torture dogs by beating or burning them to death with blow torches.

I'm a reformed/recovering Boshintang eater. As a newbie with natural curiosity as to what dog tastes like, I ate it several times and the soup itself is interesting and nice, but the meat itself is incredibly overrated. Really - what's the attraction??

Although I condemn dog meat's illegality (prohibition does not make dog meat go away, does the opposite of improve dogs' treatment, and quadruples dog meat's value making the industry more lucrative - like drugs, like alcohol during Prohibition) I also condemn the way animals are treated in Asia. See the Japanese dolphin torturers, the Chinese moon bear torturers (that's the most gruesome, prolonged torture of animals I've ever seen) in addition to the Korean dog beaters. Most absurdly of all, these are people and cultures that consider themselves ethically, culturally superior to the trashy, decadant West. This is often implied, sometimes declared, but never justified in the lofty Western scientific tradition. Chinese and Koreans also abort baby girls.

Cruel, barbaric races. Ghandi said a world is judged by the way it treats its animals. The East fares very badly indeed and the thought of me, the wide-eyed newbie munching on dog soup in front of onlooking adjoshis makes me want to abandon myself to a monastery. I should be sterilized.

The beating of the dogs is an old, outdated practice. Most restaurants don't do it anymore.
