Gotta a group of foreigners at my work place, toting McDonald's bags in and out of work, make it a social event, feel as if it's making a statement. Then act as if I'm not part of the crowd, since I refuse.

Not knowing the sham of it all, or wanting to know, the utterly uselessness of eating, their statement that they don't like the food of their host country, Taiwan. Revel in rubbish instead.

It doesn't do anything for me is all, McDonald's and Burger King or junk food for that matter.

Don't understand why some people persist other than they might be feeling more Western.

I think the foolish Asians feel the same, and it's like the dumb leading the dumber.

i went to mcdonald's once here and the kids working there acted like it was the most scandalous thing ever...a real-live american coming to mcdonald's!

maybe your coworkers like to go because it makes them feel like celebrities or something.

Yeah, I think it's a way of identifying or something.

Sad thing is, Asians think this is the gist of our culinary culture, fast food, burgers and fries.

To the Westerners who frequent there, it's a cheap way out of facing the culture here.

Every once in a while I like a filet-o-fish sandwich, just as comfort food. Temporary cure for occasional homesickness, which doesn't happen often. Also, Col Saunders' Original Recipe Fried Chicken tastes the same as it did when I was 12 years old in America. It's something I do in private, though, not any kind of public statement.

Korean food is healthier, cheaper, and easier to find.

Wanna hear something REALLY wierd? Got a Korean friend who spent 9 months in OZ, and she said she went to KFC for just the same reason ...

KFC's got fried chicken like KFC back home? I always thought it would be scrawny like I had in Taiwan. Or not as good. Do they have gravy, too?

When I lived in Quebec, I used to frequent a prize-winning KFC. That's right. Prize-winning. They had awards and such on the wall. All white meat? No problem, sir. Gravy? You betcha. Roll and salad. Roll was great for dipping in the gravy. It was great.

Yeah, the chickens are smaller here, so the pieces are smaller - "scrawny," as you say. Did you notice, most things are smaller over here ... the taste is the same, and that's what I was saying.

In 3 years, I maybe set foot in McDonald's twice. Not that I don't like McDonald's. I just figure "meh, I'll have a life time to eat Big Macs at home."

But yeah since they introduced breakfast, I have no problem going. I'm positive the breakfast has confused my local McDonald's. I never saw any whiteys in it until they introduced breakfast. Now every morning it's wall to wall whiteys. It's like Dawn of the Dead. The Koreans have to be wondering "where'd they all come from? Throw an egg on a bun and suddenly it's like flies to honey?"

Goddammit, I'm drooling for some pancakes and sausage egg mcmuffins!!

Wonder when they'll bring the McGriddles over here.
