OP- Keep going to work until you are given a dismissal notice in writing and protect your documents.

We are trying to convince someone who knows nothing...give up guys. This is a hard place..very hard. Some people just have to live through things before they understand. A wise person can learn from watching and a foolish person has to try everything for themselves...It is funny how many times I have heard people talk about how great things are and then 8 months later are here asking for help.

----Finish the contract before you come here and post how great it is....it is only great after you finish and have all of your money.

I find that gyopos usually don't understand what foreigners have to go through. They don't have arrogant Koreans looming over their heads owning their work visa and right to stay in Korea. Other Koreans probably treat them well since they can speak English and are of Korean blood. Korean society tends to put them on pedestals, as proof they "made it" in America. So I seriously doubt gyopos go through all the hardships and racism foreigners have to deal with.

I've know bad things happen, and if I happen to be unfortunate enough to go through that bs, I'm only going to hate the actual person or persons
who caused it. Hopefully it's a small percentage, but it doesn't seem to be from what I read here. Maybe, I'm trying to be optimistic. But, I do know several (foreigners) people who love it and have taught for a few years, so "not everyone" is having a bad experience. Will I be as lucky as them? I don't know. I've never said I was some expert, since I'm not even there yet.

Gyopos can get treated bad too. Like, I get chewed out for speaking English (Every once in awhile in the subway, someone will lecture me on it. I was talking to my brother since our Korean sucks ass, so I don't see why we have to speak Korean to satisfy some strangers. They need to mind their own business, but I just act like I don't understand when they confront me. It's fun doing that, because they'll talk bs about me and don't even realize I understand a lot of it. I just think of surprise smart ass comebacks, but then I don't. I'd rather just walk away.)

And I get the "this is Korea so speak it, your korean accent sucks, so shame on your parents."And that's followed by most people they know speak 3 or even more languages fluently. Yea, but I wasn't raised in Korea, maybe they don't realize that. Sometimes, I got picked on when I was little and living in Korea, because my dad's American. But that's by a very small group of people. I didn't get it from every single Korean. It really sucked sometimes, especially when he's in uniform.

You know, but not all Koreans hate Americans or foreigners. At least not my family. My grandparents love my dad, and he's foreign. They have a good relationship. He's taking them around America when he gets his leave from Iraq. My grandparents thanks him a lot for stuff in their broken Korean. Enough to understand each other though. The world isn't perfect, ignorant people exist in every country and in all races and nationalities. Just don't let a few bad apples hate them as a whole. There are some Koreans I can't stand, but there are also some western people I can't stand. There's good and bad in everything. Ok, I give up.

I was sitting in a Coffee shop last week, and had just sat down by the window ejoying my drink when two middle-aged Korean women walked by outside, and just started pointing at me through the glass window. At that moment I was reminded of the part in "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," when the aliens would point at the outsiders and yell a warning to the other aliens. It didn't really bother me since I'm used to it by now but it was a little embarassing.
