So what's the deal with getting a credit card this side ?
Two conflicting versions . One states that you need to put up some form of fixed desposit . The other says that if you work for a public school this isn't necessary .
What does the process entail ?
Thanks. |

And then it's up to each banks discretion as well but, you're right, Hagwons are looked upon w/ great trepidation. |

IF you work at a hakwon the only CC you can get is a "secured card" from one of the banks.
IF you work for a University, public school (MOE) or large company then you can get any number of other credit cards without a security deposit (including some from assorted banks).
They are not conflicting.... they relate to different employment circumstances and the stability of the employer and likelyhood of the CC holder being paid and thus being able to pay.

once you get your "health insurance" card/paper from your school you can get a Lotte credit card.
Or, every now and then credit card people come to your school to solicit your teachers for a credit card. Tell them you want a credit card and as long as you have your health card, alien card, and a bank book you are good to go. |

How long have you been here?
You should have registered and got your ARC (alien card) soon after you started work. (You MUST be registered within the first 90 days or you will face fines of 200k or more).
You can't get your medical card or anything else without your ARC. |
