Does it ever come to the point where you think, this is just outrageous, when it comes to collecting 'evidence' of English activities you and your students supposedly did? What's so amazing, however, is how well the students play along with it. Is it any wonder that the state of Korean business ethics are what they are, when they're taught in school that as long as you play along and take good photos, what, if anything, that you learned is meaningless? |

Why not turn in ACTUAL evidence of what you and your students really did?
But a debate on this is kind of pointless without knowing the context of the situation... |

I can think of many examples, but the most recent one involved herding up a group of students, taking them to the music room, setting up a huge banner, and spending ten minutes taking photos of us pretending to have an English camp that we apparently didn't have time actually to do, despite coming into school to do practically nothing all of last week. |

That's a new one. LOL
You could always ask for payment for the camp which you didn't do, but have photos of!

I've found almost any reward system, Korean kids eventually figure it's easier to game the system then do the head down work.
A sticker board showing progress? They'll try and sneak their own stickers on the board or simply steal them from other kids.
Talent money or cards? If the kids aren't trying to steal them, they decide it's easier to spend the whole class begging for them instead of doing the work to get them. |

I don't doubt children all over the world will try to game the system. But I've never taught Canadian children. I've only taught Korean children. So I can only talk about Korean children. |

No worries mindmetoo.
I was a High School teacher in Canada and know many other teachers in H Schools or Elementary schools there.
Kids do game the system. When faced with hard work or a short cut...they mostly go for the short cut. This is just the way kids are.
Korean kids are no different in that respect but they do it their own way.... |

Actually, since the photo op may be used to justify an expense sheet, you should ask for your cut |
