A recently turned down this offer, as they have some statement in their interview materials about "professing Christian love." Seemed fishy that a PUBLIC anything would state that, and I am all about getting a job that is 100% unfishy.

That doesn't sound like a public school at all. What do you mean about interview materials? OP, are you certain the place you are applying to is a public school? I hope it is for your sake.

IT's a public school and they even claim to be in part run by UC Riverside (they had an employee from there when I interviewed with them). I really want the job but I guess I don't have the experience.

And yeah, the Christian remark is even in their job ad ("Christian educational philosophy). Just some BS, I think it's nothing to worry about.

There's also the fact that, unless I'm wrong, the F/T has to teach the full 40 minute class. With GEPIK at least the kT takes half the burden of teaching the class.

GEPIK CTs teach 1/2 of the class? hahaha

Let me double that. Very Happy hahahahahahahahaha Very Happy

Ohhhhhhh...you mean they show up to about 1/2 the classes! Yeah, that's about right. Wink

My GEPIK co-teacher is fluent in English and teaches a full half of the regular classes. But please don't let this turn into a co-teacher thread. I would really appreciate any information about the Gangnam District public school system.

Thanks.

All I know is that the guy who does the interviewing there, Manpal Sahota, is the most humourless individual I've ever met. Completely devoid of personality, he sits through the interview like he's made of stone. Neither smiles or shows any warmth at all. He either must hate his job or simply never developed a personality at childhood. Weird.

manpal is a total d-bag. it was said by another teacher that when he first came to the job almost a year ago there were all the teachers standing around the room. all the teachers had already known each other because then the program was only about 17 teachers strong, so it was a pretty intimate fellowship. so, they noticed this new guy and one of the teachers asked him who he was. manpal responded, "superman". he didn't say anything for the rest of the dinner. and all the teachers were like, "ok!?!?!?"

oh, and one more thing. when we had orientation, he just up and said, btw, your schools might want to make you teach on saturdays or afternoon classes, so you need to sort that out with you school........

HE DIDN'T EVEN MENTION THAT IN THE INTERVIEW BEFORE WE SIGNED THE CONTRAT.

Anyone else have any interesting experiences with his guy? What was the interview like?

He0s write for TEC of KOTESOL. I was supposed to work for him. BUt my mom ended up throwing away my CBC. After explaining in a LONG email, all he said was "ok" That was his entire email. Guess he thought I was making it up. But yes, I've also heard that he's a bit odd.
