From the Korean Times

Quote:
A Canadian English language teacher who fabricated his academic record was sentenced to six months in prison...."Qualification of private language schoolteachers is important considering that Korean greatly depends on private education. He should be under severe punishment as he fabricated documents for tutoring in the country." said Han Yang-seok, a judge at the Seoul Central District Court. "However, I consider that he didn't commit other crimes and was engaged only in education." Han added...

And about time too Korea started cracking down. I wonder if in coming months there will be a sudden flow of 'teachers' leaving the country...especially since the judge didn't think six months jail term was severe punishment.

Good point, but where will the Koreans with phoney degrees go? (Been reading about the art curator with her phoney Yale degree?)
