Not a movie, its a book by author Jon Krakauer - "INTO THE WILD". Great book.

The film adaptation has been done with Sean Penn as director. You can find the trailer here:

I, too, just watched Grizzly Man in the last couple of weeks. Maybe my expectations were too high from the rave reviews...but I was disappointed. I wouldn't call him a moron, but a very disturbed individual. I was expecting the film (and his death) to have had some purpose...but he wasn't accomplishing anything, and he was utterly delusional.

Cool.. I'm looking forward to seeing that.

Sean Penn as a director? Has he directed movies before?

What's great about the film is that it's like a personal letter from Herzog to Treadwell, telling him how much of an idiot he was. Plus, it's always great to hear a German man who sounds as though he's doing a fake German accent.

Well said. You made me chuckle on both counts.

Though knowing what I do of Herzog, he'd also note that it is only through our "idiocy" that we obtain enlightenment. Or to paraphrase the tired Blake quote - If an idiot persist in his idiocy, he obtains genius.....

DD

Tiger Beer, I've read the book but I was refering to the original article in Outside magazine, early 90s and from which the book was inspired.

Thanks for the Sean Penn film mention. I loved the original essay/story and will get this film asap.
