Hi. This is Claire who's been to MudFest last weekend.
Two of my friends got injured at 'Tarzan' ride, and they did nothing than calling 119 and getting an ambulance for my fiancee (and 1 friend) who's got a spinal operation this morning .

As of Sunday, after my fiance, David 24yrs old from U.S. got seriously injured, they closed down the ride. He was delivered to the ER and soon after a girl from UK followed us with the same problem. We were moved to Seoul from Boryeong by Embulance. They said they have Insurance, but called me only once, a lady from the insurance company contacted me and told me a stacff in Seoul will contact us but nothing more happened.

I want to let you guys know how unsafe things are at MudFest, and how irresponsible the people there are. My fiance said he's been there last year and how fun it was but it turned out they're not ready to take care of their visitors at all.

If they don't get back to me withing today, I'll contact broadcasting companies and let everybody know about this incident. You know, when it reaches 10th anniversary, they should know how to do stuff then just making money.

So sorry to hear about your fiancee. I hope he comes through the surgery and recovers well.

One accident is horrible, but to have another girl get injured in the same manner from the same ride within a few minutes is just gross negligence.

I've seen some pretty irresponsible stuff go down there as well. Last year I saw someone driving an SUV up and down the beach full speed at night towards large crowds of people. The police on the beach did nothing to try and stop the person.

I hope you nail their asses and they get their act together for next year so responsible people can enjoy themselves.

Any mass event planned in a small town Korea is a disaster waiting to happen. Remember the deaths at the ajumma concert? All the ajummas rushed the stage like so many teenagers at a Who concert?

People should know by now that these sorts of things are caveat emptor. This is still Asia after all. Western standards of health and safety do not apply.

What is the Tarzan ride? I missed that one.


On police responsibility, I saw young and old lighting sparklers....fking sparklers....on the beach at night. The cops would make a mad dash toward the "offenders" and quickly take their sparklers and put them out. It was funny to watch them scramble for that, but sad to know that is what they are concerned about.

Unfortunately, shiat happens everywhere, but not just in Korea.

My friend was the 2nd injury. She was taken by ambulance to Seoul where she had a CAT scan. She fractured L2, in her lower spine. She was told Boryeong would "compensate" her and was given several phone numbers. She called them all to no avail, but the next day a woman who spoke English contacted her on behalf of Boryeong. I'll let you know what happens next, they said they would pay her, but we will see.

Yeah, I am curious about the ride too, we were there and saw it mentioned on the map, but never found the ride. Where was it?
