Will someone please tell me what documents are needed for E-2 visa run to Japan now? If you've traveled there in the last few days, I would like to know what you had to take with you for your renewal. Thanks.

Your passport,
visa confirmation number,
6000 yen,
a passport type photo.

Since you are coming here without a visa you better make sure you have the required documents to get the visa confirmation number from immigration before you make the trip to Japan.

I am sure I don't have to warn you about the risks involved with teaching on a tourist visa before you make your visa run. You must know that it is illegal to work or even "observe" classes before you get your E2.

I wanted to know what documents for when I go next year. I am NOT coming on a tourist visa. My trip is being delayed and I will come on an E-2 visa. The new law has really thrown a wrench into things. I have to have my transcripts and diploma apostilled in California, since that is where I go my degree. Then I have to have them sent to me and THEN I can send everything to Korea.
Consular seals are no longer required from the U.S. to do this. But the apostilles are.

If you are getting your E2 before coming to Korea then your original question is not clear. Why would you need to make a visa run?

If you extend with the same employer going into your 2nd year then you simply get a contract extension from immigration - cost is 30k won, a copy of your extended contract, passport, ARC, an application form and a few documents from your boss. You don't make a visa run if you stay with the same employer.

If you are changing employers then you begin the visa process all over again from the start including transcripts, diploma copy, etc. This is all required by immigration in Korea and NOT by the consulate in Japan.

The requirements by the consulate haven't changed in the last 5 years (since they changed from the blue visa confirmation letter to the visa confirmation number).

My boss told me that immigration in Ulsan wants sealed documents with consular seal and then he will get the blue form and send to me.
