I prefer MMA.
Not only is it a more realistic representation of what would happen in an actual fight, but I just find it a lot more exciting than boxing. I'd put kickboxing (K-1) in between MMA and boxing. |

I prefer watching MMA. However, I love to watch Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao box. |

I like them both and they can`t really be compared too much, but if forced I go with MMA as it`s got more aspects to it which makes the match ups more complex and intriguing. |

I've been a boxing fan, but it's currently at a low point due to a variety of factors. And it's also more dangerous for the fighters due to so much head trauma incurred both in matches and in sparring. Even the mandatory 8-count probably causes more damage than it prevents.
MMA with its mixture of ju-jit-tsu, judo, wrestling, and boxing requires more complex strategies, and the submission aspect of it probably results in fewer head traumas. At the top level, Randy Couture is still going strong at 43, and Chuck Liddell is 38.
Boxing has a greater tradition, and it still has some stars (like Oscar de la Hoya and Pacquiao) but there's also a long history of corruption. MMA is in its early developing stages and is still working towards a more uniform set of rules. (In time, more corruption will probably set in as more money is involved...)
It's probably significant that 60% of the participants in MMA have college degrees, whereas boxing has traditionally been a way for many undereducated people to make their mark in the world in a tough, gritty business. |

MMA...boxing isn't going anywhere while King is still involved. Knock that bum out and boxing will come back. |

Historically, boxing. MMA and K1 matches are too short and lack the drama of a good boxing match. They don't have the same restraint, tension, and release of a good fight. Boxing requires greater attention and focus, and is more rewarding because of it.
That said, I don't watch any of the above anymore. Too many bad decisions. All three seem like the open sewer of sports. |
