I'm going home for summer vacation and when I asked my father what I could take back for him he requested a bike. A folding, aluminum bike, with a front wheel suspension system, and shimano gears. This is the kind of bike that sells at Lotte for about 150,000. Is it really worth it to buy this bike here and lug all the freakin' way back to Canada?
Also....one more. Is it cheaper to buy an MP3 (iRiver) player here or in Canada? |

Buying a bike in Korea and taking it home in order to save money is like being thirsty and then finding a big glass of water in the middle of the desert and then dumping it out all over the sand instead of drinking it. |

If you want one of those folding aluminum bikes, they aren't equipped with Shimano gears and by chance if you do find one it will probably be something like the Altus line or even lower quality. If your dad is really set on a folding bike, just buy a cheap one, take it home and upgrade the components. |

Is your father over 5' 6"? If so, you'll have a hard time finding something to fit him. Besides, bikes will probably be cheaper at home. They aren't made here, anyway. They come from Taiwan or China so they wouldn't really be cheaper. |

Yeah, as an aside, I'd like to mention that the cycle racing high school teams are only allowed to purchase bikes made in Korea -- Corex, Interpro, and some other Korean brands no one has ever heard of. It's because the government 'must buy korean' if taxes are paying for it, even if the quality blows in the particular kind of good they are buying.
But the funny thing is that, despite the bikes being of Korean brands, they are all made in Taiwan and shipped back to Korea... |
