One of the biggest busts ever considering what the Falcons gave up to get him and what SD did with those picks.
Quote: |
The indictment alleges that the 27-year-old Vick and his co-defendants began a grisly dogfighting operation in early 2001 in which dogs fought to the death or close. Losing dogs were sometimes killed by electrocution, drowning, hanging or gunshots.
If convicted, Vick and the others Purnell A. Peace, Quanis L. Phillips and Tony Taylor could face up to six years in prison, $350,000 in fines and restitution.
|
A very quick indictment, seems like the feds are conmfident and they have very high conviction rate. Could be bad newz for Vick. |

I know that the N word is supposed to be dead and buried, but after reading the article, it seems to be alive and well. |

So he's going to get suspended, right?
Will Goddell have the balls to suspend him too? I mean...a federal indictment is a BIG deal.... |

I don't think there is any doubt that the commissioner will suspend him. He's been handing out suspensions right and left and I doubt Vick is above the law. Of course, he hasn't had a history of legal problems like some others, but I'd wager there will be at least a short suspension. |

Since Pacman and Henry got suspended it would seem Vick would have to get one too. I know this is his first offense whilst Pacman violated the rules by not reporting arrests but still...this is such a big case and it is the FBI.
Hogwon guy can you joing my fantasy league please? Vick sucks as a fantasy QB.
edit: and as real life QB too I might add. |

The story reads that Vick participated in the killing of eight dogs this year. If this turns out to be true he is done in the NFL, I hope he saved a lot of his cash. |

Trading Matt Schaub looks incredibly stupid now. Wonder if they'll sign Culpepper and recreate the god-awful QB tandem in Miami last year (Culpepper-Harrington). |

If he is indeed found guilty I vote for putting him in a cage with a few of the surviving pit bulls. Let's see how well he really scrambles.
First the Qyntel Woods incident out in Portland and now this. I can tolerate stories of guns pulled at strip clubs or a fight between entourages, but I'm sick of the animal abuse. |

Meeeeh, whatever. He will pull the old "I had no idea that was happening on my property." and he will continue to rake in the big bucks and be a "role model" for kids everywhere.
I just can't understand the lure of dogfighting. Even if your dog won, isn't there a very big chance it would be mauled pretty severely and your investment is lost anyway? Seems to me these guys must go through dogs like crazy. I don't see there being any pride or skill in being able to train a dog vicious enough to win one big fight and then have to kill it and start the whole process over.
If your dog doesn't get a good mauling doesn't that mean that another pitiful little pup was just served up to your dog to get owned? Where is the pride in this? It's not like Vick needs the money for fuk sake. So if he is involved, it's seems like its just an ego or entertainment thing. If that turns out to be the case, he is one sickening individual. |

Well, that was his strategy, but the involvement of the feds implies that he won't get off so easy. They don't usually step in unless there is evidence and they can make a direct case.
Pretty sure he's going down in flames. I, for one, hope he gets a second chance (after being appropriately punished, of course). |

Why?
You lay down with dogs, you get fleas....He's just lucky one didn't decide to latch on his jugular...
He's been acting up the last few years and he needs a swift kick in the ass and one hell of a wake-up call. Hopefully this will be it. |

Off-topic, but I like it . . . there's talk of Daunte Culpepper going to Atlanta. He was just released from Miami and gave us this wisdom:
Quote: |
"As I was going through this process I heard about a quote by Gandhi that best expresses my thoughts about this victory: 'First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win,"' Culpepper, who serves as his own agent, said in an e-mail. "Now that I have won my freedom and I get to choose my next team, I am just like many other people who have to go out and find employment so that I can take care of my family."
|

It's too much to ask, I guess, that an education be included with the four free years of college football. |

The crimes he alledgedly committed make Korean dog butchers look worse in my humble opinion, eh. |
