Just paid for cash for it..

From those in the know.. what about insurance, etc.?

How about the laws here regarding motorcyles, etc.

From what I can tell.. they can park just about anywhere they want to park.. and disobey red lights and whatever else.. Cool (not that that's my intention).. but the rules do seem to be a lot different than ordinary vehicles.

I know you can't drive drunk, you must wear a helmet, it's is illegal to ride on the sidewalks, but that's not enforced much (I bet then they see white skin it gets enforced) and you can cut in between cars.

Don't know much else, but I bet your answers await in the "official motorcycle/scooter thread" in the off-topic forum.

The law: you must have a license (125 is ok on a car license), must have insurance, must wear a helmet, must obey traffic laws, must not go on the sidewalk.

From my experience: do whatever the hell you want. Nobody cares as long as you don't hurt anybody.

And when Korean police tries to stop you for any reason, just hit the full throttle and run! They don't even bother to chase you down or do anything. K-police will just smile (in disgust) and does nothing.

It's so funny to watch these bikers just ignore police. Laughing

Insurance? Mine runs around 125,000 won a year for a 2005 650cc Hyosung. What kind/size/year bike did you buy? Is this your first bike?

For the most part, the same laws apply to motorcycles and cars. Most motorcyclists just choose to ignore them; at their own peril, of course.

I bet it's the other way around. I started driving a car recently and was all excited to go thru my first DUI check point -- never had to blow in a breathalizer before. When the cop saw my white face, he abruptly just waved me right on thru, no test. The cops don't like to struggle with the communication barrier. I've heard that even if you know some korean, it's better to just play dumb. Wink
