Hey There,

I have a university job that is similarly boring at times. It's not that they cancel the classes so i can do something nice - it's that the students don't always come.

It has improved lately. I think I am nearing the end but had to find more pastimes. I didn't feel up to doing another course or studying with all of the little distractions around here. I need to use the opportunity though.

My first job in Korea was (yawn) editing text books and writing new books (yawn again).

There were time when they said "There is no work today so look like you are busy."

I hated it.

It was around that time that I wanted to get back into teaching. I had already done Japan, and actually thought that editing text books was a step up. Boy was I wrong!

What did I do to relieve my boredom?

On-line games. Daves. Writing. Chatting. Studying Korean. The list is endless.

Bottom line?

Get back into teaching.

Of course I'm not an ESL Teacher, but my job position allows me much latitude to FO...this is a brief description of my "duties".

08/10/2001 to Present. Hrs per week: 50, Senior Enlisted Engineer Advisor, - -MSG. U.S. Army. Fort Leonard Wood, MO
Currently a Senior Instructional Designer and subject matter expert for education, training and development for full time United States Army Reserves. Utilizes assessment, design, delivery and evaluation techniques. Oversees standards and evaluation of training and the training and development of employees for performance improvement for military personnel. Conducts on-site needs assessment and advises on appropriate learning programs. Assists senior management in planning and execution of organizational development of employees with focus on changing knowledge, skills and abilites. Maintains extensive instructor certification database for military schools using Microsfoft Access and Excel; evaluations and course specfic certification. Evaluates course planning and preparation; classroom diadactics and provides feedback for future curriculum review. Develops and presents animated PowerPoint briefings for status of training and acts as a change agent while working with line managers to improve the effectiveness of the organization.

Now, I can go look for extra things to do, but I don't do things that are other people's responsibility....I make sure THEY do it.. pretty easy, it's a good position because I finished my BA degree and soon will start my Masters.(which the Army will pay for) It also gives me plenty of time to read Dave's...(which I enjoy alot!) Do a web search and see what a U.S. Army Master Sergeant with 21 years of service makes....not bad coinage.....
