I'm not, and I'm wondering if I'm getting jacked. It's in my contract, but I thought this was standard. I know my "coteacher" is getting overtime.

So, are you getting paid more for doing a camp?

Kind of. I'm doing two camps that are mandatory and part of my contract, and I'm doing two camps (actually just extra classes) that I volunteered to do, and will receive extra pay.

If it's in your contract, how are you getting hijacked?
There's the contract. You sogned it. Deal with it. Learn from it and next time...change that part of the contract.

Other schools this, other people that. I know guys who work 9 hours a week and get more than me. Guess what? That's their contract.

Explain to me how you think you're getting screwed when you're following your contract?

I tend to agree with the last post that, if you signed the contract, then you can hardly call foul when they adhere to the terms of the contract.

Thanks for the righteous lecture. I must have just fallen off the yangpa truck.

I'm not talking about getting jacked contractually. I'm talking about industry standards. If someone signs a contract at 1.0, he's getting jacked by industry standards. You know what I'm talking about.

I was just wondering if it is normal for other people to get paid more for doing camps. No need to be a d1ck about it.

No, but the Korean teachers are all teaching classes at the same time, so it is like regualar school. No biggie.

Fair enough.

I am getting paid over and above. I also get accommodation included in my salary (I don't think of it as "free" accommodation as I reckon we earn it along with our wages).

All my Korean colleagues aren't getting paid extra. They aren't thrilled about it.

I'm hardly righteous...I've just been hearing the same crap from some of the people I work with. Boo-pucking-hoo other places don't have to work camp...why do we. They're lucky they got a good job their first time here.

Some places pay, some don't. Our uni doesn't pay, but we get a bonus. This year the better the teacher the bigger the bonus.

No, but I'm not not getting paid either. Seems to me that working 1.5 hours per day for 10 days and getting paid for the whole month is fair. But then, I've had jobs where I didn't get paid vacation, and having the summer off is nice...until you start to run out of money.

If someone signs for 1.0 he's a retard...or a preacher. Industry standards? This is Korea...where are you going to find standards of any kind?

lol.

I'm doing 2 one week camps, one for my school, one for the city. The school camp is part of my contract, but that's ok since it's only half-days. The city camp is not, so for the city camp I'm receiving pay and accommodation.

If your camp is extra-hours, strange hours, or otherwise more intense than your normal school schedule, you should be receiving compensation. If you are working a couple weeks of half day camps, no weekends, then don't worry about it.
