6 and 8 month contracts...rare?

How hard is it to get a 6 or 8 month contract??

In the case of a renewal at the same institution they're common. E-2 visa holders would most likely encounter some difficulty landing such short term contracts unless they have their own housing, or the situation is a special one, like the hiring owner/director already knows the teacher who's seeking such terms. F type visa holders are more apt to slide into a short-term contract because there's little overhead, such as recruitment fees, visa processing, housing, etc., involved.
