I caught this near scrap outside of my window this morning. The guy in white (watch him kind of hike up his shirt a bit) kicked the tree shortly before I started filming. No idea what they were scrapping over. The younger guys started to walk away but then decided they weren't done yelling at the old halbaes and started to mix it up again.

Who has a camera ready to go at all times? "watch him kind of hike up his shirt a bit" WTF? Do you like watching boys fight, and is it better if they take off their shirts? |

in the first video, the old timers should have bent the young guys over their knees and whipped 'em with their belts.
in the second one...yeah, what gives? where is the tae kwon do action? |

Come now, Tae Kwon Do is not exactly the manliest martial art anyway, now is it... |
How easy is it to get a black belt in TKD, haha. I swear, it operates just like the hakwon business - "Let's give 6 year old MinSu a black belt, that way his parents will be happy and keep sending him here and we will make money" kind of thing. |

You are so right. I asked one of my pudgy 11 year old students how long it took him to get a black belt and he said two years. He also said he got his when he was 9.
As far as the fighting goes, what gives? All I ever see is pushing matches that don't really go anywhere and end with some do-gooder getting in the middle. If two people want to fight (or in most cases dance) let them, at least until it becomes one-sided. |

| the taekwando thing sucks, a lot of the schools do special deals for teachers where you can get your blackbelt in a year before you go home, wtf is that all about? |

| I think that a lot of fights are normally just verbal and a lot of pushing around, due to that in the back of their minds they are worried that if they drop the other guy they will have to fork over *beep* loads for blood money. |

Maybe money. Maybe so the teacher can have something positive to say about Korea. I was once taking private lessons from a TKD instructor who kept telling me that I would probably earn my black belt in 6 months. I quit shortly thereafter. |

Given the prevalence of cell phones with cameras and video cameras, who doesn't these days? I wish I had my camera ready sooner as I would have caught the guy in the white tee kick a tree. That would have made for some great video.
