I was told that there will be an Oxford TESOL/TEFL/TESL seminar being held at Yale university next month and I almost have my mind set on attending it.
Any teachers here have any experience with them or even went through the course. If you did, what was your experience during and after the course?
I have 6 years experience, but I want to have something to pad my resume with so I can make myself alittle more marketable for when I return to korea sometime in the future.

I was not-so-subtlely led to this section after attempting to post this on the off-topic forum. Evidently, this CAN be useful info for ALL teachers concerned...I guess.

I got my TESOL certificate from Oxford Seminars (the one based out of Kingston, Ontario... there may be more than one). It was good, but a lot of the class was devoted to teaching us about life in Korea and games that we can play with kids. It was easy to complete, and everyone passed (of course). I found it really useful, but I had never been to Korea or taught in a classroom before.

Yours may be a different company though, or a different instructor.

i took the oxford seminar class. it's alright, like someone said above, it's all about learning games and talking to your instructor about life overseas. i took the 60 hour course. turns out, when i was applying, 100 hour courses were the preferred one. if you have 6 years of teaching experience, then you will learn nothing new about teaching at all. you do practicums, but we all know how unrealistic practicums are.

overall, i think it was an okay course. cost a lot though.
