seoulsucker, how do you respond to the fact that PS3 has more advanced capabilites, better hardware, and more importantly, a lot more potential?

This argument is presented in major league baseball during draft time - do you take the high school pitcher with GREAT upside and AMAZING potential but still needs to be refined (may take a couple years)? Or do you take the college pitcher that has experience, and is ready to pitch for you much much sooner?

There really is no right answer, but personally, i'm taking the PS3 with more upside, and potentially a better return for my $500 in the long run.

How do I respond? Look at the sales of the Wii. Much, much, much less sophisticated and tech-heavy than either the 360 or the PS3, and it's selling like hotcakes. Why? GAMEPLAY, not technology. Everyone keeps spouting on and on about how superior the PS3 is, but they haven't done SHIIITE with it. It's like buying an Enzo in Seoul just to sit in traffic all day.

Go ahead and make your "investment"...in the meantime, I've been enjoying top-notch games on and offline for the past year and a half. I'd rather spend my money on a proven system with award-winning games NOW than wait a few years to see if Sony gets its act together.

At this rate, by the time they do the next-gen consoles will be on their way.

The idea that the PS3 has some amazing hidden potential is ignorant nonsense. The ATI graphics card (R500) in the 360 is significantly more advanced than Nvidia's RSX (basically a GeForce 7800) and most 360 games look superior due to this. The Cell is extemely difficult to program for as it is assymetric and it mainly benefits physics rather than graphics. Also the 360 is the main development platform for virtually all multiformat games and the PS3 ports are usually worse than the original and often months late.
