Cut Chemist is the performing name of Lucas MacFadden, a solo turntablist. He is a former member of the funk Latin band Ozomatli, and of hip hop group Jurassic 5. McFadden became known through the Los Angeles-based rap group Unity Committee, and debuted on vinyl on the B-side of Unity Committee's 1993 single, "Unified Rebelution". The track, "Lesson 4: The Radio" was an ovation of Double Dee and Steinski's "Lessons 1-3."
UK bred Mat the Alien started playing records on his brothers 1200s at the age of 15. His unique and innovative style was developed working at the familys record store in Bury near Manchester. Surrounded by a selection of new and old vinyl, Mats style was fed by an eclectic blend of beats. Notorious for his seamless cuts, effortless scratching ,and distinctive selection, Mat developed his skills by playing many clubs, one-off events and radio shows.
