I decided to resign with my school and they are sending me home next weekend. But my multiple entry visa expires August 23 and my ARC expires August 31. I don't have a return ticket to Korea because I had a round trip ticket coming here and my school told me to just buy a ticket in Canada.
But when I get to the airport will they take my ARC away? Or should I be renewing my Visa while I am still here in Korea? So far my co teacher says she doesn't know and I shouldn't worry. But I rather play it safe.
And if I renew my Visa should the school handle that or is it something I have to do on my own? |

If you leave before renewing it, you'll have to get a new VISA whilst in Canada, and that could be a pain, plus it's more expensive.
Just renew it before you leave. It's easy. Take your new contract, your school's registration papers, your ARC, passport, and 30,000 won and you're good to go. No hassles. Shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes not including your wait.

I renewed my visa this year but didnt know that they would be keeping my passport for 10 days. I was leaving within the week so they rushed the process for me. You should go first thing Monday morning if you expect to get it back by Friday.
Good luck! |

Resign or re-sign?
If you meant re-sign, it is easiest to take care of it all now. You can do it up to a month or so BEFORE your current visa expires. I did my last one in Jan for a March 1 renewal.
A quick trip to immigration with your new contract, your ARC, your passport, an application, 80k won (30 for the renewal and 50 for the new re-entry permit - you are going out of the country and renewals are NOT multi-entry (even if your visa originally was)).
You will also need the business registration and guarantor paper from your school.
If you explain to them that you are leaving the country ASAP (showing the ticket is great for this) they will ensure that the paperwork is done while you wait and send you on your way poste-haste.

sorry re-sign.
my ticket is an open ended one so I called Korean Air to book seating. the dates aren't written on the ticket.
so it cannot be done in one day like another poster mentioned before?
I have 3 days of Summer Camps which is all day so the only time I have to go to immigration would be on Thursday and it would be best if I can get it in one day! and I'm not sure of the hours that immigration is opened until.
But even though I will be back before everything expires it still would be better to get it done while I am in Korea correct?
another thing i should mention is that my school hasn't given me a contract to sign yet. they said to wait until I come back and when my contract expires....this is not a good idea is it? |

You should be able to do it in one day - 20 minutes or so.
Having a ticket - even an open ticket is fine - you are not extending based on the ticket, just ensuring that you get your passport back ASAP.
Every time I got an extension it has only taken 20 - 30 minutes and I got my passport and ARC back before I left the office.
Immigration is usually very accomodating about things like this when travel is involved. They are NOT your enemy and from my experience they are usually quite helpful. |

thank you so much!
this seems to be stressful because I thought working in a public school they will take care of everything for me.
do you know what time immigration is opened until daily? |

Hun, if you are going to renew/extend your visa at immigration you are going to need a new contract signed by yourself and your school. They won't just give you a visa extension on your word.
