I have a serious Coca-Cola addiction. Started when I was eight or nine maybe, went unchecked right up until I came here and both Westerners / Koreans started pointing out the fact that: "Holy shit you drink a lot of Coke!"
'Tis true. I drink more than a litre a day. I buy it often (liking the prices here), and though I've taken a real shine to Korean food, I order Coke with everything. Gim Bap = Coke, expensive Indian restaurant = Coke... its ridiculous. Though I do drink water and the odd tea, as well as some Korean-made pop I've been experimenting with, I always end up back at Coke.
Does anyone else have a Coke addiction? ...and is drinking Coke obsessively sort of frowned upon here? If so, I'll have to find an alternative maybe |

Yea, I used to love coke in university. Kinda grew off it here, though. I don't really like the options for coke here. Cans are too small and the bottles are too big. The 355ml cans back home were just right. That goes for all the drinks. I'm tired of small sh1tty cans that just tease my thirst! |

Is it just me or does the Coke here taste a lot different than the Coke back home?

I think there are 2 thngs to remember when doing anything extremely/ obsessively to your body.
First, when you are young (under 30) the side effects are countered well by your body and don't become problematic. However, as you age, your old habits become intolerable by your aging system, and change is necessary.
Second, hypoglycemia leading to type 2 diabetes. Soon to be one of the most common diseases in the western world and all due to our massive sugar intake. Switching to diet cola? Well then you are being a bit of a test rat in that the long-term effects of many artificial sweeteners are yet to be seen.
A liter of Coke a day? It will spell trouble. No doubt about that. |

The best thing about Korea is that you can get Coke in glass bottles. |

Studies show that on average, a person who drinks one 12 oz. soda a day will gain 15 pounds after a year. How's that addiction working out for you? |

Um...yeah
Anyway I used to drink that much ginger ale when I was in high school. I finally had to break my "addiction" and not drink it at all for 30 days. After that, I was fine with it. Now that I think about it, all that ginger ale back then might be why I have 13 fillings now Maybe OP, you should go to the dentist and find out what all that delightful and useless sugary garbage has done to your teeth. |

I prefer Pepsi or Coke based on how it's served.
Fountain drink: Pepsi
Can: tie
Plastic bottle: Coke (but sometimes Pepsi)
Glass bottle: Coke (and this is the best way to drink cola of all time)
One thing I love about living here is you can find Coke in glass bottles. Oh yeah, and if you go to Japan the Coke all tastes like soy sauce. It's terrible. |

I blame my Coke addiction on my father. He refused to drink milk or water-- only carbonated beverages. Usually diet ones. I have looked up to him all my life, and I just can't deny that Coke still feels like a luxury.
I recently switched to Diet Coke, and I find that it's good to be off the sugar roller coaster. My consumption does get a little unreasonable sometimes. |

Oddly enough, i really like coke with ethnic foods. For example, when I eat Sushi, I MUST drink coke, or I don't feel satisfied. Same thing with Indian food. I love coca cola with Indian... and same with Cantonese Dim Sum. And vietnamese. And friggin' everything.
Of course I like it with western food too, but with ethnic food, that is when I really really crave it. At least I am still eating an authentic ethnic dish, because in India, China, etc., everyone drinks coca cola!! |

I used to drink far too many fizzy drinks Coke, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi etc.
I have gradually phased them out and I am now drinking a lot more water, but unfortunately I have become quite fond of ice tea.
