My MBP is giving me electric shocks everytime I touch it. Ive looked this up on the net and people say to replace the power lead with one with three pins to include an earth grounding.

Korea dont have the three pinned sockets in the wall! What are my options here? The apple korea site is in Korean.

Ive spent 2,000,000 on a useless machine!

Why don't you tape a wire onto it and let the wire trail to the ground? A temporary fix until you get back to third pin civilization. You shouldn't get a shock using batteries, if looking kool is a problem.

Have you called applecare? Even in Korea they should have english support, also try 1800-my-apple. Electric shocks is a safety issue, they should deal with this.

Wow, you should ask to speak to a product specialist or a supervisor, cause an electric shock is a saftey issue. Wow, that's not good.

I know its really a joke but there's nothing apple can do... I just wonder what all the other people with laptops do? Is everyone getting shocked like this?

mine (pwrbookg4 15") did that from time to time.. but it was REALLY mild. best to get a power trans with 3 prong and the aforementioned 3-pronged adapter. however, korean sockets do seem to have a ground (in newer buildings) in the form of a dead piece of metal that touches the plug around the outer edge of the socket (you can see it and touch it--grounds have no electricity) but i'm obviously not an electrician so i can't say 100%

you could also get a bluetooth mightymouse and keyboard and then you'll never have to touch your notebook (also a good idea since acids on your skin and stuff can corrode the nice metal finish)

true this is what I have had to resort to. But I have been told the electrical buildup can effect the componentry in the machine... Now im worried about all my gear blowing up!!

Note books are double insulated so you shouldn't be getting shocks from it.

It might be down to that funny magnetic powercord thing though

Welcome to the Let' Be Electrocuted Club!

We have older G4 Powerbook and it's giving us shock treatment as well. *Zap!* And that's not the only problem with our Mac. The lower memory slot is dead. Apple is aware of this memory problem, but won't fix our model - they fix other models even though their warranty has expired, but not the model we have. Way to go Apple! Razz
