When you are over encumbered, how do you get rid of stuff? Also, what are the following (sorry, I lost the book):
The man's face when you press tab
the feather
Thanks. |

if you are using FRAPS to monitor your FPS ingame, there is a screenshot hotkey... F10 or F11 I think. you can always just hit 'printscreen' button as well. |

To drop stuff, Shift click. Don't pack rat theres a lot of useless stuff. Keep the stuff rated at high values.
You should consider some of the mods. There's ultra high res textures out that will make use of your 512mb card. I also like some of the leveled creatures mods so I don't see bandits running around in Daedric armor.
My PC is a lot slower than yours even my GTS8600 which is almost on par with a vanilla 7900 and I can run this game fairly well too, though I've turned down a lot of the memory bandwidth hungry things. |

To drop something, TAB into your inventory, find the object that you want to drop, and hold down your right mouse button on it. If your inventory window closes and you are still holding the item in mid-air, press 'z'.
Some mods that will help you:
-carry more mod
-guildstorage v1.2
-saddlebag v1.21
If you want to expand your game and have a little more variation, try getting the newest expansion pack, Shivering Isles and the official mods from the Nights of the Nine which give you a load of very good magical items and armour sets.
Oh yeah, don't forget that you can use "feather" potions, spells, and magical items to lower your encumbrance. When using the saddlebag mod, you need to sneak on your horse and place the items on it. If you fast travel, your horse will still follow you, even if it is over-encumbered.
Your strength and endurance also affect your ability to carry more. The following mods will help you if you didn't start maxing those skills during levels when you first started playing:
-quest award leveling
-retroactive health
Other mods that I am fond of:
-btmod
-sigil stones expanded
-call steed |

thanks guys. WOW! There is a lot to do.
So, I started as a battlemage and played for 6 hours (2 of those hours were spent on walking around aimlessly trying to find places). Just last night, I learned how to use the map to go from one place to another without walking. I wish I would have learned how to do that from the get go. Now, I restarted the game and am a full mage. We'll see how that goes. |

I forgot to mention that you can sell stuff off as well. If you join the thieves guild, you can pawn off a lot of stuff for quick cash.
BTW, don't forget to read as many books as possible since there are certain books that will give you skill advancements. Always read the books in the guilds, important places, and guild member homes (when you break into them).
Also, as a low level character, you should definitely run through the low level shrine quests since they give you excellent magical items. I would start with the shrine of nocturnal since it give you the skeletal key (an unbreakable lockpick).

Money is messed up in Oblivion. Early on its hard to make money due to low carry weight and crap items, later its ridiculous. I've got a vast stockpile of Daedric armour and magic items in my house in the Imperial city. Gold is only useful for enchanting, spellmaking and house buying and maybe bribery if you hate that mini game. |
