i may sound like an idiot for asking, but i'm not entirely sure what the deal is? i took this to mean they should be in the envelop unopenned as sent from the university, however my dad says differently....

I am currently waiting for my degree cert. and uni transcripts to arrive in the post from England, but i know my dad has already openned the envelop which the transcripts came in, will this cause a problem or does it mean it just needs to be the origional copy which the university made instead of a photo copy?

I've already been waiting 10 days for them to arrive in korea, if i have to get them sent again i guess i should get the ball rolling sooner rather than later.

Your dad may have screwed you here. The envelope containing the transcripts must be sealed with a stamp or signature across the seal from the university (both is best). That being said, when my uni sends them, they use a mailing envelope, inside of which is the actual sealed enevelope with the transcripts. So, if the envelope around the piece of paper is still sealed with the stamp on it, then you are safe. If not, then you better call your uni.

You're gonna want to get on that. Sealed means sealed. My uni doesn't stamp them, but there is a notice on the flap that says not vaild if seal is broken.

And Pak Yu Man - I regularly miss sarcastic comments on forums like this, but I didn't miss yours. OP, if you search for transcripts I'm betting you'll get a ton of hits.

well they actually did arrive today but they are not in an envelope other than the one my dad put them in which i don't think will be good enough for the beaurocrats by the sounds of things so i'm just going to start over. I guess its a good thing i haven't actually made any applications yet.... although i will start today

I had to pay 10 quid for my transcripts, (had already ordered a set last year but then delayed leaving), so I was keen that all went smoothly. Read everything on here and relayed that info to the uni. Bless em, they stamped the entire envelope seal of each set.

I got 6 copies, each sealed in an envelope. Maybe good to get them sent to you directly OP? Avoid the potential for accidental opening.

wow...I must be lucky then Smile I've asked my school for official transcripts at least 3 times. It was readily available the next day....and each time I've asked for transcripts I've requested at least 15 or more Very Happy It's always been free too. Never a hassle...

What does "seal" mean? Just the way the flap of any normal envelope is sealed with adhesive? (that's all mine has, along with "official document sealed by.." written on the flap. It doesn't have a stamp either- the pages of the actual transcript inside are the only thing that are stamped.)
Or does it mean like an official-looking round sticker thing placed over the flap?

Is mine OK the way it is??

I got my transcript sent to Korea and they arrived unsealed, so I just licked the envelope and handed them into my recruiter. I didn't have any problem getting my visa.
