Anyone ever done it, or known someone who has? I'm curious about all aspects of it. |

"Broads"
...classy. Are you going to ask them to pay for the date, too? |

I was slapped in the face by a Russian woman in Hongdae. That's as close as I've come to dating one. |

No, I'm talking about regular dating, not whatever booty action Russian bar thing you're used to.
Any comments? |

I've always wondered about the origin of "broad." I'm a visual kind of guy, and I picture the broadness of the hip region when I hear the term, but I don't think that's the real origin.
Here is an explanation:
Quote: |
Jackson and Hellyer's 1914 A Vocabulary of Criminal Slang, with Some Examples of Common Usages. It's worth quoting in full: "Noun, Current amongst genteel grafters chiefly. A female confederate; a female companion, a woman of loose morals. Broad is derived from the far-fetched metaphor of 'meal ticket,' signifying a female provider for a pimp, from the fanciful correspondence of a meal ticket to a railroad or other ticket." |
Read full explanation here: broad
Russian broads <wince, cringe> are fun. Here is what you need to date a self-respecting Russian broad <ouch>: You need money--but that you need to date any kind of girl. You need to be able to give her what she wants -- the more the better. Don't be a sissy. Don't be a brute. Don't tell stupid American or British jokes. Speak clearly and respectfully; avoid idiotic "native" mannerisms; they sound superior to your ears only. Be presentable; casual (by today's standards) is disgusting. |

Yeah, that's a good point. It's what I meant originally but should've clarified. |

It may sound weird but if we are talking about Russians (or former Russians) in Korea. Then learning/speaking Korean may be a good starter. The people i have met here, English is their third language at best and sometimes falls back behind German, their regional language and even Chinese. |

I went on a few dates with a girl from Vladisvostok. She never really would tell me what her job was and she smoked like a chimney. She was hot though and has very beautiful eyes. She also had a baby back in Russia. Nice girl(my age) and was fun to be around. She had to go home to the motherland and thats the last I saw of her.
edit: Oh and she would get pissed if I cursed ever, and I swear without thinking in almost every sentence, especially when I'm drinking. That was kind of cute. |

Dated a Russian woman when I first arrived here in 2003. She was a research scientist for Samsung and despite having a PhD in organic chemistry was paid less than my hagwon-teaching self for the privilege of working 12 hour days, often seven days a week. Needless to say that put a dampener on the relationship. Despite that, we had a few fun dates, although she would descend into bouts of melancholy that would not be out of place in a Dostoevsky novel on occasion.
Quinella, where did the Breen quote come from, BTW? |

My friend married one he met here . She said 2 years later that he was too cheap (despite him spending his every waking hour attending to her needs) and that they move into a bigger apartment . He found them a great big place , payed all the heavy deposits etc ...and she ran off with some GI the same night they moved in .
Of course she doesn't represent all Russian women . Maybe , and this is controversial but just and observation ....maybe just all women that grew up poor . |

my friend's uncle got himself a mail-order Russian bride, complete with a 16 year old daughter. they got married and in about a month the Russian bride and the daughter disappeared with all the credit cards. several weeks after that, the bride called from Alaska, wanting money to get back to Russia.
not that that has anything to do with Russian women here. i don't think i've even seen one here.
well, a couple of hot girls that hang out at the foreign bar have funny accents...but i think they are South African...but who knows? i shall have to investigate this weekend... |
