That pretty much took care of the question. Smile

That's the uber-Christian hagwon, right? If so, I've known several teachers who thought it was a good place to work, and the results I saw in my public school kids who attended it spoke for themselves. They teach regular school subjects in English, using (conservative Christian) American textbooks. I saw kids go in with very low ability who came out 12 months later spouting off about octopus pheremones.

If you can deal with some peculiarities in the history and biology classes it should be a rewarding place to work. They don't make you go to church or anything like that, but they do only hire women.

I'm a Christian, but I would steer clear of Christian schools in Korea. Perhaps if it is run by foreigners... but even then, I feel like the chances of you putting in a lot of extra hours in the name of "Christian service" are pretty high.

Also, I visited Osan several times when I was teaching in Korea a year ago. It's a good place to go for a foreigner fix but other than that, I found it kind of unbearable... crawling with U.S. military. I might have seen 6 Koreans in a full day not counting those working in shops or bars servicing and catering to the loud, obnoxious military.

God bless America but I wish some of those boys and girls would really just grow up! It's humiliating for foreign teachers... especially those from the states.

You were in Songtan, not Osan. The base is called Osan Air Base because Songtan didn't exist when it was built, and Osan City is a 15-minute drive from where you were. No soldiers ever to be found there.

Forgive me. It was Songtan. The military referred to it as Osan... probably because of the base being right there.

Yeah, I often tell Koreans I used to live in Osan and always, always, they go "oh really? Lots of soldiers there, right?"
