He was a fine, fine actor, too. Check him out in "Straight to Hell," in which he plays an extremely Bad Man who is so tough he combs his hair with gasoline. Awesome flick; it's got a pre-knifework Courtney Love as well.

Couple passably ok songs on the soundtrack as well...Strummer was on it a bit, but it was mostly Pogues. Good 'Danny Boy,' especially, sung by Cait O'Reardon I think, the 'rum sodomy and the lash' singer who married Elvis Costello, if memory serves...they're both in the flick too...

I dunno how to do PTP transfers from my box, but if anybody wants a track or two from the soundtrack I'd be happy to email an mp3 to you. PM me if you can't find the stuff available for downloads...I've seen it yogi and chogi for a few years, but it never seems to get seeded for very long.

Did you see Jarmusch's Mystery Train? Joe plays a psychotic gunslinger in that one too. I wouldn't call his acting 'fine' myself, but he gets his lines out. Eventually. He was better at it than Shane anyway.

Yeah, I like that one as well.

But...you don't think Shane was good in 'Straight to Hell?' I think he should have won an Oscar or a BAFTA or something just for the teeth. No wonder his lines were almost completely unintelligible; with that smashed piano of a mouth, it's amazing he can speak at all.

And coz of all them drugs 'e done.

Director, whispering:
Quote:
psst, someone poke Shane.

(someone pokes Shane)
Shane:
Quote:
Froink! Stroingerzzz...

(Shane goes back to sleep)

rivetting stuff.

Yeah, well, let's give you an armload of junk and twenty bottles of wine a day and put you in a Spanish desert and see how well you do.

I'm just joking around, of course; it's an absolutely god-awful dogshytte of a movie, but if you're smashed on something, it's pretty funny. Like when the horribly disfigured Courtney Love runs out in the middle of the big Mexican stand-off, clutching at her pillow/unborn baby, screaming 'save my baby, save my baby' and everybody looks confused for a sec and then starts killin the hell out of each other...that is pure, pure gold.
