Hi, I pay 250k plus some extra for art/gabe classes. My son been at same korean kindy for 2.5 yrs loves it. unfortunatley we have to leave due to unforseen circumstances but hope to return. He speaks korean all day and english and korean at home.
The only thing you have to b lucky with is sickness. luckily my son has mostly been sick on weeknds so I haven't had to take any days off work.
Finding an employer that is sensitive to stuff like that is good. |

oh, so you were talking about single foreign mothers coming over with their kids who only speak English...
it would have been nice to specify. In that case I have no idea. |

| Do they speak exclusively Korea there? Does you son already know Korean, or is he learning it as he goes along? Very interested in your reply. |
Yes they all speak Korean, my son been there 9 months ago and still likes it. For the first time he went there, he didn't know any Korean word, it was really hard for me to leave my son there, he's the only foreigner.
But after 2 months he speaks Korean language better than me, you know that kids can get along well with others easily.
I'm not worried if he learns Korean and might forget English, next year he'll go back home for his primary school. |
It would make sense to be able to keep her child at her school since it would be an asset to have a foreign child around conversing with Korean children. She may or may not need to have someone look after her child in that way. I think Juregen and Aylaz have been helpful. There was another one who mentioned paying 250,000 for kindergarten.
I definitely admire the single mothers juggling work and having to raise a child. That isn't easy. I know because I have have a couple of single moms as friends. I saw what they had to go through. |

People with lower incomes can receive asset-tested education subsidies paid for by the Tax Service.
Year on year we effectively paid only about half of the kindegarten fees for our two kids. We received cash back at the end of the financial year.
I only have a daughter in kindergarten now and she pays 260 p/mnth and we get back 60 p/mnth. With the two in kindergarten it was about 520 p/mnth in fees and we got back approx 250 p/mnth as a subsidy payment.
The subsidy eligibility cut-off points are quite high. Maybe many teachers here, if they are sole income earners for their families and have less than 일억 원 of declarable assets, will be eligible (in the same way as those figures above show.)
I imagine the subsidies apply to a great many people, married or single. Though would it be possible for single E2 visa mother's to receive? It's probably workable. |

| It's all done through the Tax Service so my wife arranges the documents declaring our assets and incomes and goes to their office located near the city Gu office. |
